I have a 2006 kia sorento lx 4x4 with a mitsubishi 3.5 NON interferance engine, the problem at first was the timing belt was shreded due to an idler pulley that had siezed up so after I got into it I replaced all the parts that come with a rebiuld kit {timing belt, water pump, idler pulley, adjustment pulley, automatic adjuster and new seals for cams and crank} the only parts I did NOT replace was the crank positioning sensor and the cam sensor. so I reassembled everything and tried to start it up for no result, engine just turns and does NOT fire...my question is 2 part...1 if crank sensor wiring is comprimised would this prevent it from starting? and 2 is there a way to test sensor without tearing everything apart again?
There may not be a problem with your crankshaft sensor unless you cracked the housing or pinched the wire somehow. I think that your problem is with your timing. To check bring number one piston to top dead center on compression stroke and check to see if your valves over that cylinder are closed. I think you will find you timing belt is off maybe a little maybe a lot. Please let me know what happens. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.
