Purchased TV in 2003, 18 months later, apparent problem with power supply, cost over $200 to fix. Now,every time TV is turned on,green power button just keeps clicking on and off.No picture,no sound. Any advice?
Apparently, a power supply weakness re-occurring........ Possible incomplete or incorrect repair the first time..... Have it diagnosed by a qualified RCA tech...... Always a possibility = IHVT = 257805 or asti 2078.......T.

The H.O.T tranistor and flyback transformer are bad. This can be fixed cheap if you find the right shop. Transformer cost about $22. and the H.O.T transistor is about $6.00. The labor is what you have to shop for.
most likely it is the flyback transformer. I have had meny RCA tv's with a bad Flyback and H.O.T transistor bad. Cost depends on the service center. Parts average around $60.00 dealer, so depending on mark up and shop labor it could vary greatly. If you have never changed these parts it is best to have a service man do it ... Take it to the shop and save the trip call charge $49.00 and up to $125.00..
Fly back transformer will cause a buzzing sound like this. Really up to you how bad it bothers you it can be fixed but it will cost a couple hundred dollars. If you can solder you can put it in yourself but the flyyback will still cost a little bit of money.
Hehehe Its all in a matter of taste I like sony and Mitsubishi. You like RCA you get what you pay for. These sets are good for the L401 in the horizontal drive circuit to cause your problem as well as a blown fuse and a shorted horizontal output trasistor and the flyback transformer. if its anything Im thinking off the repair cannot be done by a handi person and should be taken to a pro and will cost in the range of150 to 225.00 for this repair. good Luck
