Can't upload pictures to computer

When I turn on my camera iphoto comes up but the upload screen does not show up.  It seems like my camera is recognized but I'm not able to upload the pictures to my computer.  I know my computer isn't the problem because I talked to mac support and have tried to upload on other computers

I have a powershot DC870 and it's not showing up on my computer. I can upload picture straight from Iphoto but my videos wont download at all.

Make sure you use a program that recognizes videos.
iPhoto is for still photos. It does not recognize videos. Try iMovie instead.

Do what the pros do...use a card reader to download to a folder you create on your desktop.

My canon camera won't upload photos to my iphoto. It seems like iphoto is trying to read them, but can't. A green light flashes on the camera but no image appears on the LCD screen.

Use a card reader instead of your camera to download to a folder you create on your desktop. Then, import the pics to iphoto from there.

Won't download to iphoto

How are you uploading your images. If you are using a USB cable to your camera try going to memory card and a card reader. A memory card and card reader are seen by your computer the same as a hard drive.

Can't get pics to my mac computer, won't transfer.

When you get the popup from iPhoto don't click on any iPhoto buttons. Instead, click on command+tab and change to your Finder application (leaving iPhoto open in the background).

1) Create a new folder on your Desktop or in your Pictures folder. This is where you will copy your photo files.

2) Click on File, then New Finder window. Size these finder windows so you can see both of them at the same time. In the second window, go to your computer, and then to the drive that represents the memory card in your camera.

3) Drag and drop to copy the files from the camera's memory card Finder window to the new folder Finder window, dropping the files into the new folder on your computer's hard drive.

4) Use command+tab to change back to iPhoto. Cancel from the import warning window. In iPhoto click on File then Import to Library

5) In the import dialog tell iPhoto to move the photos (not to import them in their current location) so that iPhoto puts the photos in the same place it put your other photos when it imported them directly from the camera.

If you can't do all of these steps, tell me how far you got, and what happened.

Not uploading to Mac with USB cable

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo cataloging program.

Won't upload to Iphoto

Use a card reader by taking out the card from the camera and downloading the pictures from the card reader with out using the camera at all.

This is one way to eliminate the problems with camera to computer drivers and software problems.

Iphone photos

opened iphoto and it gives "no items to import" ? if true try this. when iPhoto is open and your phone is connected, open the albumn of pictures you've taken with your iphone on your iphone. iPhoto should immediately recognize the new pictures you had taken and should indicate "x items to import." x being number of photos. An alternative to this can be If you individually delete the previously imported iPhone Camera Roll pictures using the trash can on the bottom right (touching the screen brings it up), iPhoto will then see the new iPhone pictures for importing. I believe this can be done without opening at the time of sync the iPhone Camera Roll picture album as you suggested. Give these a try and let me know.
