Brother HL-4070CDW still prints page upside down in duplex.

Many duplex printers have an automatic setting for booklet print. If not, you have an option in the printer settings for long side or short side flip. If you are printing an A5 booklet (ie A4 folded) the setting should be landscape, two pages per sheet, flipped short side.

Check your duplex settings, should have option of long side or short side flipping.

The manual indicates, at page 78, you can choose long or short edge flipping. Your setting must change this setting to get the effect you desire. The manual is at...

The Brother HL-2040 machine does not have and cannot be fitted with a duplexer to print both sides of the page automatically. You can only duplex manually, that is - you turn the page over and put it back in the machine to print on the other side. Some settings will allow to print double sided manually, where the printer prints all the odd numbered pages then instructs the user to place ALL the printed stock back in the paper tray to then print all the even numbered pages.

The Brother HL-2140 does not include duplex printing. The only option for double sided printing with this model is to print odd numbered pages, then manually replace the paper into the tray and print the even numbered pages in a second set.

You may need to tell word you want your printer to flip on the short side and not the long side. With my Canon printer I get a drop down menu IN WORD (not printer setup) that gives choice of: print one side; print two side flip on long; and print two sides flip on short.

actually the gears in the printer are got worn out or some thing is blocking the gears so its not able to turn the paper internally to print on the right part of paper.and its printing upside down.remove the cartridge from the printer.and apply air blower in the inner area of printer.remove all the dust collected in the printer by blowing air everywhere in the printer.then check out if still the same problem the paper sliding gears needs to be replaced.you can get the gear assembly for local printer repair shop.they also help if replacing the gear assembly.

I had the same problem and finally figured it out.

When you select print and the print window comes up:
select Printing Preferences or Properties (depends on program you are using),
select the Advance tab,
select the icon that has 'A' and 'B' on two pages (near the top left),
select Booklet Printing. (then Okay and Okay/Print, depends on program)

In all honesty, I'm can't remember if this is what I selected to fix the problem, but the choice is on this page. Try this with each choice of "Flip on Left Edge" and then "Flip on Right Edge".
If neither works, unselect Booklet Printing and try "Flip on Top Edge" and if that doesn't work, try "Flip on Bottom Edge". Etc.

I know the solution is on this screen so experiment until you find it.

If it's the same as the Brother 4070 you go into printer proerties (press properties next to printer selector after sending a document to print).  Choose the advanced tab, on this tab near the top are five buttons with icons on, the second one shows two pages with A and B on, press this to access the duplex and binding options.  In there change from "flip on top edge" to "flip on left edge"
