For connecting to your amazon account you will need to download and install an apropriate amazon app from the appstore.
For that you will need internet connection on your ipad and you should have a registered apple id.
Steps:
1. Try to locate the App Store icon on your ipad and launch the app.
2. After the app launches, find the search box on the top right corner of the screen.
3. Enter the word "amazon" in the searchbox and tap on the search button.
4. Choose the amazon app needed, I prezume you would like to read, for that you will have to download the amazon kindle app, by pressing the Free button beside the kindle app icon.
5. You will be asked for authentication (password) with the app store.
6. After successfull authentication, the app will be downloaded and installed on your ipad.
7. When the installation process is finished the app icon will apear on the ipad homescreen. You should launch the app.
8. The amazon app will ask you for your amazon credentials, and if you will give them correctly you will be connected to your amazon account.

Hope it helped.

ps.
Do not share your ipad serial with everybody. That is only needed by quaified personel mostly for repairing things or warranty handling.

Hi, if I remember correctly, all I did was download the Kindle free app on my iPad. Then check your device listing and see if it is listed there. I hope my memory serves me right. Give that a try and see if it works for you.

Add a device to Amazon??? I have Amazon and have never heard of having to do this. The Amazon accounts authorize connection by username and password; it doesn't care what kind of device you are connecting to it by.

How do I add my iPad to my Kindle account?

How to Install the Kindle App for iPad/iPhone The Kindle app can be used on any iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch with iOS 3.2 or greater installed. Installing the Kindle App Visit the App Store and download the Kindle app to start reading from your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. To install the Kindle app: 1. Tap the App Store icon on the home screen of your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. You can also get the app through the iTunes Store. 2. Search for "Kindle" or find it in the alphabetical list of apps. 3. Follow the on-screen installation instructions. When installation is complete, tap the Kindle icon on your device to open the reading app. Registering the Kindle App To register your Kindle app, use your existing Amazon account e-mail address and password. If you live outside the United States and use the Kindle application, please see the Using the Kindle App if You Live Outside the United States Help page. Tap the Kindle icon on your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch to open the reading app. 2. Enter your Amazon.com account e-mail address and password. 3. Tap the "Register" button. You can also tap the Settings icon (the cog) on the Kindle Home screen to view or change your account registration. Signing Out and Deregistering If you sign out of the Kindle app, your reading app is deregistered from your Amazon.com account. When you deregister, you can't download content to the Kindle app or send purchases to the app unless you register again. To deregister using the Kindle app: 1. Tap the Kindle icon on your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. 2. Tap the Settings icon in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. 3. Tap "Update" under the Registration field and then tap the Deregister button. To deregister online: 1. Visit Manage Your Kindle on Amazon.com. 2.
