Sounds like the high-voltage magnetron (the heating unit) is not getting power. It could be as simple as a broken wire inside the unit (which would explain the spark) or a failed control board or high-voltage power supply (which also might let go with a spark).
If you know DMM then only you can fix it. Check magnetron continuity and the transformer continuity. Mostly magnetron blows up.
Danger microwave has 5000 volts in it
Thanks
Discharge capacitors
Micro wave as the name suggests produces heat when the micro waves aimed at an object causes the water molecules inside the object to vibrate hence producing heat. The gadget responsible is the magnetron. If your magnetron is not receiving ht voltage or receiving but faulty, then your micro wave wont work please take precaution when opening micro wave due to high voltage caps that remain charged sometimes even when it is off.check the high voltage fuse/ diode and capacitor if they are fine and the step up trans former o.k then the only option is to replace the magnetron
You had something metal inside the microwave. Do you have a rack inside on a revolving tray? On my microwave, if the foot of the wire rack is not on the revolving tray, it will spark against the floor of the oven. Microwave will go around round pieces of metal - it will spark if it finds a flat surface. I dont think you did any damage to your machine but try to not do this again.
hi..Your micro hood is "shot".so it is not working properly. The food may not be heating, but the electrical and the walls of the unit might heat. This may cause sparking and melting of the interior of the unit. check it out.. thank u.. kindly rate my response..
We replaced the board behind the control panel. $130.00. If you do this make sure you can put the wires back the right way. My husband finally got it and our micro is working like brand newThanks to all who tried to help.
