SOURCE: carburetor adjustment weed eater fl sst 25,will
My machine didn't run idle either. Took carburator apart of the Sst 25. Cleaned it with gasoline and a brush. But no luck. Figured it must be the nozzle of the idle. There are two more or less hidden black adjustment screws for the nozzles (idle and gas). I used a plastic tube from a ballpoint to take screw out, ran some air through it, reassembled it and now the machine runs smooth again...
SOURCE: Don't know how to install new string on Echo SRM 2400
Cut two separate pieces of string, about 7 ft. each.
Stick the end of
the line in the hole on the inside of spool.
Wind clockwise onto spool,
putting the line that is closest to the ground on first.
Once you have
winded this piece on, lock the last 4 inches of line through the slits
on spool.
Repeat process for second piece of line, locking the last 4
inches in slot opposite the other locked in piece.
Put the spool on the
trimmer, feeding the end of lines through either hole on trimmer.
Before you push the spool all the way on, pull the strings out of the
locked position.

SOURCE: What is the correct ratio for fuel mix for a ECHO
A 50:1 ratio with 89 Octane fuel can be used in all ECHO 2-stroke
equipment, provided the oil is ISO-L-EGD and JASO M345 FC/FD
certified. ISO-L-EGD and JASO M345 FC/FD oil must be used
with a mid-grade (89 octane) or premium gasoline in all 1997 and newer engines.
A
50:1 Ratio = 1 US Gal. 89 Octane + 2.6 fl. oz. ECHO POWER BLEND OIL
Echo Power Blend Universal 2-Stroke Oil can be used in all of our
2-cycle air-cooled equipment ever made. You may also use this oil in any other
brand of 2-cycle air cooled equipment, but it should always be mixed at the
50:1 ratio whether or not it was a 32:1 or 16:1 etc. machine. This oil is the
highest quality 2-cycle oil on the market today. There is no need to have
more than 1 tank of fuel for your 2-cycle equipment any more.
Use only fresh gasoline with a
minimum octane rating of 89 through 93 (mid-grade to premium) at all times. The
gasoline suppliers blend mid-grade and premium gasoline with greater amounts of
detergents and anti-oxidizing additives to keep the engines clean. Lack of
these detergents and additives in a 2-stroke engine will cause a heavy build-up
of varnish and gum deposits on the piston surface and ring grooves. Regular
unleaded 87 octane or lower gasoline may not contain enough of the detergent
additives that are needed in a 2-stroke engine to keep varnish, gum, and tar
deposits from forming. Use of 87 octane fuel may shorten the life of the
engine.
ALL TWO-STROKE OILS ARE NOT EQUAL!
ECHO POWER BLEND OIL, is manufactured exclusively for ECHO, Inc. and
meets the (ISO) International Standards Organizations highest performance rating of ISO-L-EGD for Air
Cooled 2 Stroke oils and is JASO
M345 FC/FD REGISTERED. Years of research and testing have resulted in an oil that is fully compatible with
fuels containing 10% ethanol and can be used in all air - cooled, outdoor power
equipment 2-Stroke engines at 50:1 ratio. ISO-L-EGD and JASO M345 FC/FD rated
oils must be used with a mid-grade (89 octane) or premium
gasoline in all 1997 and newer engines. Always look for the JASO M345 FC/FD square
logo and registration number to ensure you are using the highest quality
2-stroke oil for your ECHO product.
ECHO POWER
BLEND OIL is made for high revving, (7,000 RPM and up) air-cooled
2-stroke engines that are E.P.A. and C.A.R.B. emissions certified. Make sure
the oil has a EGD and FC/FD certification. Oils that meet ISO, EGA/EGB/EGC
and JASO FA and FB are of lesser quality, designed for applications such as
water-cooled boat engines, low RPM lawnmower engines, or snowmobile engines and
should not be used in ECHO Engines. Prior to 1997, oils were not manufactured
to these higher standards. Some or most of the oils were simply 30 or 40 weight
4-stroke engine oil with minimum amounts of additives. ECHO POWER BLEND OIL is the highest
quality 2-Stroke oil available and will provide maximum protection
against engine wear and carbon buildup.

you can take the screen out altogether-ive done that for almost 20 years. That is probably your problem. You can also change the fuel filter in the gas tank. There is usually enuf slack in the gas line in the tank that you can get the filter to the gas tank opening and hold it w your fingers or pliers and remove it.Be careful with pliers to not gouge fuel line and just pull filter firmly off fuel line. There may be a tiny metal ring that helps hold fuel filter on to fuel line.Try to kind of hold it in place as you pull filter out of fuel line.If you lose it its not a big deal. Most filters fit snug onto a fuel line anyway.-A good way to get the filter to the mouth of the gas tank to work on is to empty all the gas and take a metal clothes hanger and bend it so you get a little hook in it and kinda "fish" for the fuel line w filter attatched.Within minutes you'll figure it out and get the filter up to the mouth of the gas tank where you can work on it.If you dont have enuf slack to work you can disconnect the fuel line at the carb and pull yourself a little slack.Dont go more than about 1/2 -3/4 inch though.----along w the muffler screen(located behind plate that is attatched to muffler with 3 small screws)(check plate itself for ability for air to pass thru-can clean it out with tiny screwdriver)-you can also take entire muffler off(two allen screws)that reveals a look at port where all the exaust comes from.If that area is choked with carbon you'll have a problem. Some weedeatwers get it bad some dont.So...check clean or remove(screens clog up fast) muffler screen located under plate thats attatched to muffler-----while plate is off check it for carbon buildup(you can hold up to the sun and see if sunlight goes thru it-that will tell you)-------take muffler off and look at exaust port(if dirty scrape carbon carefully out-turn machine upside down, tap with something,etc...no biggy)-----fuel filter. Also check air filter though probably not your problem unless its totally caked with stuff or getting soaking wet somehow. The only two main other things would be a plug or the thing attatched to one of the gas lines called a vent-just a little thing that pops on to the end of a line.I dont think the air filter ,vent,or plug is your problem-especially the vent or air filter. Its probably exaust related or fuel filter.---make sure youre gas mixture is right and make sure the gas isnt real old.---Ive had echos for 20 years-hope it wasnt too much to digest. Its all simple really-was just tryin to be descriptive to help u as much as possible.good luck
