What would cause a Fisher RS-884 to not power on?

Assuming that rs853 is very similar with rs911, there are 2 ac transformer, one high power transformer for audio amp and a small tranf for control/protection mounted on printed board. The big one is powered via relay contact, if the small one is powered and control signal is ok (relay energized). First check the fuses, transformers continuity, big electrolytic capacitors for damage, if small transf is energized, and power relay is not energized probably is a control / protection problem, in this case check power amp. Also check power connections, can be a loose connection or power switch problem.

the two main causes are burnt out windings on the pump can normally teld by burnt or discoloured copper windings if good then blown fuse on board or the board itself

first make sure drain pump has no burning or discolouration on the winds, if so through it away,if good you need to have a tester t check both fuses on the main board, if good check in top board for continuity across the power button

Based on what you have explained the flood switch next to the filter board is most likely faulty. If you do not have a service manual for the unit download from this site.

No answer, but...
I have a similar problem... I can power up my rs-911, then about 3-5 sec. later, it shutsdown (standby light still on)... What in the tarnation is going on? All 3 fuses are OK.?.

There is a thermo fuse in this unit and it can cause the controller not to power up. It is located on the heater plate, if the unit got too hot this will cause this fuse to blow and cause not power to the controller to a singe drawer unit only, this would not shut down both drawer though. This fuse is not replaceable other than replacing the plate itself. Get back to me if you need part numbers and I can get them for you or you can call Fisher and Pakel directly and they are 24 hours a day service call center. The plate is tricky to replace and you will have to change both seals at the same time, not real pricey though.

I will be helping you today.Are any of the cycle lights lighting up like rinse and normal and is the light on front blinking and pausing if so how many times is it blinking? Try turning the power off too the unit for five minutes and back on, because if the lid was open some or was stuck it can stop the unit from running.
