The milk splutters and does not produce a good enough foam . It does not descaling or cleaning.

Saphira? check the air nozzle on top of the cappu-outlet . if the machine indicates that you should descale, the cleaning cyclus wont work. to descale you have to turn off the machine by pressing the on-off button on the front side (behind the tea-and steam button). if the machine is turned off, press the descale button for 3 seconds. after the descaling cyclus you will be able to clean the machine.

Why doesn't my machine make good quality foam?

Have you tried putting the steam wand just on top of the milk once the milk has warmed enough - this will let some air up the wand and makes good foam.

I have the via veneto model that has the rubber tube that draws the milk in. It doesn't seem to build enough pressure now to do it. I have been cleaning and descaling it on a regular basis. The expresso...

Hi
There is a pin on top of the cappuccinator the will twist to create suction. Turn it slowly when steaming until it starts to draw milk up to foam. Then leave it. If you don't have the pin, thats your problem.

Not enough steam is produced to make good froth.

I have one too and what I do is: turn all 3 switches on and while I'm waiting for the "ready" light to come on I go ahead and pour the milk into my frothing pitcher and prep my espresso basket.
After the "ready" light comes on I install my espresso basket and turn the handle to the "left" so no liquid starts coming out.
Next, I take an empty coffee cup and hold it under the steam nozzle and start opening the steam valve until I get only steam instead of a stream of hot water. Once you have steam, close the valve, put your pitcher of milk under the steamer and froth as usual to around 150 degrees.

Why won't my starbucks serina froth milk. Just stopped doing this all of a sudden. I descaled, the little hole in wand isn't blocked. The milk heats but no froth.

This problem developed on my Sirena machine about a week ago. Stopped frothing milk, but still produced lots of steam. In fact, it was splattering milk everywhere, just not producing foam. Cleaned the steam wand (including air intake) and descaled the machine (even though its only 3 months old) to no avail. Called Saeco customer support (1-800-933-7876) and the very helpful rep immediately identified the problem. Inside the Panarello steam wand is a removable plastic tube. The tip of this tube should protrude about 1/8" beyond the end of the steam wand. Mine was not. Using the eraser end of a pencil, I pushed the inner tube downward into position and, voila, I now have froth again.

Delonghi Magnifica Coffee Maker the milk is not frothing properly - there's lots of steam & very little milk being issued from the spout We clean the milk jug each day, have adjusted the plastic tube...

You did not state anything about descaling, but every now and then, I also add water and descaler to the milk container and use the "Frothing" program to run through the water and descaling-solution (double-click the Cappuchino button).
I have also noticed that the first cup (and sometimes even the second) will produce less milk, and not as well frothed milk as later cups. My theory is that the machine is warmer when producing later cups.
If possible, you could try to run two-three frothings of plain water through before switching to milk. I realize this is inconvenient, but it could be worth testing this to see if it helps. We luckily have two milk containers and keep one filled with water just for the purpose of heating up (or whatever we do :) the frothing system before serving the first cappuchino.
Good luck!

Lousy foam!

Perform a full descale cycle to clear the steam boiler of any debris or build up. Most likely due to blockage.

The mahine does not froth the milk properly anymore

alisha165,

the saeco royal digital dosn't froth milk.... it produces steam, you are the one that froths the milk. is the machine still producing steam? if not you will need to have your steam boiler replaced. This should only be dune by a qualified repairer. If it is still producing steam but it is not as good as it use to be, descalling you machine may help.
