I'm having difficulty with mt Janome 6400. The bobbin will suddenly shift and stall everything. I can remove the bobbin and actually pull the bobbin case back, and sometimes I can sew for aw

When I am not having this bobbin problem, the machine runs perfectly. I had my machine serviced a few months ago, too. The guy that serviced the machine told me not to oil the machine, is that correct?

Look in your sewing machine manual, see if it mentions oiling your sewing machine, if it doesn't then the sewing machine could be a self oiling from the factory,,self oiling mean the part were put in oil for a period of time and they won't need oiling, the more you sew then the oil will be released to oil the parts automaticly. sounds like you may need a new bobbin case, did the problem start before the machine was serviced or after?

SOURCE: SIMILAR PROBLEM OF TOP THREAD ACCUMULATING IN BOBBIN AREA

it sounds like a needle threading problem. if you have the instruction book, pull yout needle thread off the machine and re-thread as per the book ie presser foot up and make sure thread goes betwen tension discs and up over takeup lever.

to check needle tension is ok, lower presser foot and pull needle thread through needle, the needle thread should be tight enough to bend the needle a little.

goodluck,

scott.

SOURCE: Bobbin Case

I'm having a similar problem today. I took out the bobbin case and when I went to put it back in, the whole system locks up. I've tired cleaning, changing needle taking the metal plate and piece that holds bobbin case out and put it all back in after cleaning. Nothing. My symptom is I can't get a complete stitch, the needle goes down, the whole deal acts like it will work and as soon as the arm of the bobbin case gets to 8 o' clock on the gears, It jams and won't hardly move. I cannot pull the bobbin case out easily after this. Perhaps there is someone out there that can help us!

SOURCE: How does the bobbin case fit into the machine. I must have it in right because the bobbin thread doesn't come up and the top thread doesn't make a loop.

Go to http://fixsewingmachine.com since there is great diagram there to help you visualize the process. Jimmy

Janome mini heavy duty sewing machine

when you sew keep a eye on the thread take up lever & see if the thread comes off while your sewing, I've had this happen to me & I've been sewing for over 30 years. if this does happen, take a pair of pliers & very gently close the take up lever just alittle but not enough to damage it.
also check the needle to see if it's damaged--if your not sure change the needle--flat side goes to the back of the machine
always make sure the fabric & needle & thread are compatable--the thread must be able to pull thru the needle with out any problem
also check to make sure there are not any burrs on the needle plate or bobbin or bobbin case

I have a Janome model 577 (I know it's old!!) and

If the top tension is on 0 I suspect the problem begins in the bobbin, make sure first of all the bobbin is turning anti clockwise in the bobbin case, when you pull the thread through the bobbin case there should be slight resistence, if it is too loose turn the screw on the bobbin case clockwise about a quarter of a turn to tighten, if it is not making muh difference you may have fluff stuck under the spring on the bobbin casem take a fine sewing needle and slide it under the spring to see if you can get any fluff out, top tension about 4 or 5

I am having a problem with my Janome Decor Excel 5018. It was working fine, until the bobbin thread won't gather with the top thread. And the top thread is binding up underneath the fabric. Kim

try a new needle

rethread the machine top & bobbin, that way you make sure the thread is not caught anywhere

make sure the bobbin is correctly inserted in the machine

clean under the needle plate & in the bobbin area for loose thread & lint

always keep a long thread tail of 3 to 5 inches long, & keep the tails pulled back behind the needle
before sewing

if none of these things help the problem,, then it may need to be serviced

I have inherited this machine and can't tell where

It might be top loading possibly, newer Janomes are.

Earlier ones are front loading in a bobbin case. Can you remove the accessory box at the front to get access to a front door?

Janome MC 4000 obbin rotates past the spring

This spring does indeed keep the bobbin case in place. It is either out of adjustment or it has been bent. I'm sure your dealer will warranty the work you just had done so take it back to him to adjust properly before the bobbin case is ruined.
