That is a Western Digital driver file......for your hard drives likely.

If you are using RAID, then make sure that the RAID is the correct one, and if not, then make sure in the BIOS, you have NOT selected a RAID option.

If those do not seem to be at issue, then attempt to boot in Safe Mode with Networking. That error has been known to have other driver(s) unrelated to the WD driver.

Please check how the disks are configured?
If mirrored and second mirror is avaliable you can
replace the disk. (It is the same if the raid5 configured.)

You can download the Hardware Maintenance manual from ibm to
help you in the disk replacement process:

SOURCE: hard disk no detect in installtion of window

You need to give windows installation the drivers for your Sata-Bus by pressing F6 while the installation load the drivers (like when we want to install on RAID drive). or do the following method follow the links in that page for Slipstreaming VIA Serial ATA drivers and the other link to create a boot CD Creating a bootable Windows CD with Nero.
it's all in the following link: http://weblogs.asp.net/jkey/archive/2005/08/28/423901.aspx

The install is fairly easy. Before you begin make sure if you have SCSI adaptors installed have the drivers for them on hand. If you do not have these drivers you should download them to a 1.4MB floppy disk. When you are ready, put the Windows Server disk in the cd/dvd and reboot the IBM. Follow the instructions on screen and you shoud be fine. From start to finish it should take you about 1 1/2 hours to complete everything.

Good Luck

I WANT TO INSTALL 2003 SERVER ON IBM X236 BUT IT IS SHOWING NO DRIVE PRESENT

Use the IBM configuration disk and it should be able to prepare the server for what ever OS you need to install. If you don't have it then, try redoing RAID and reformat the hard drives and try again..You can probably hit F6 during the initial portion of the install and supply the necessary SATA drivers on a floppy and get it to install. You will probably need a USB floppy though unless your server has a floppy drive.

Insert your Microsoft Server 2003 Installation disc into the CD/DVD-ROM drive and boot the server from the installation disc. Microsoft Setup will load the files it needs to perform an installation. Press "Enter" to setup and install Windows.

  • 2 Press "F8" to accept the Microsoft License Agreement.
  • 3 Create a new partition to install the operating system onto by selecting the "Unpartitioned Space" and pressing "C." If there is no unpartitioned space, highlight and delete all of the other partitions on the hard drive by pressing "D." Set the partition size to the "Maximum Size" and press "Enter."
  • 4 Format your new partition with the "NTFS" or the "NTFS (Quick)" option. Windows setup will format your hard drive and load the installation files. Your IBM Netfinity will restart and installation will continue.
  • 5 Select language and regional setup information, then press "Next." Enter your name and company name, then press "Next." Enter your Windows 2003 Server Product Key and press "Next."
  • 6 Select the licensing mode you would prefer to use and press "Next." Create an administrative account and password and press "Next." Enter the current time and time zone and press "Next."
  • 7 Setup your Network information by naming the server and defining how it will connect through the net. Press "Next" to navigate through the network setup screens. Windows Setup will finish the installation process and provide you with a log-in screen to use your computer.
  • If you delete old partitions from the hard drive to install Windows Server 2003, you will lose all information on those partitions.

The good news is IBM says it will work, the BIOS might require an upgrade. I would consult ibm.com and get the latest updates for your hardware after that insert CD and reboot!

    File missing

Windows? FILE MISSING is a pretty short error message. Usually there'd be more info, especially that which identifies the particular file that it's missing. This may be an item from one of your startup locations that has been deleted, or perhaps a hardware item that's missing some of it's necessary stuff.

Does your system continue to operate despite the error, or do you halt/freeze?
