Dewalt 771 slips in all torque settings in low, but works in high setting

Dewalt drill/driver DCD771 Type1. When transmission is set 1 the clutch slips in all 15 settings, if you move selector to 2 the clutch seems to work as it should, is there problem with the transmission or something else?

SOURCE: I have a IR 2130

This gun shouldnt have an adjustment. If you cfm's from your compressor are enough. Too low cfm's mean lower torque. If cfm is high enough for the gun rating then I would say the gun is bad.

SOURCE: dewalt dw297 impact wrench does'nt work at all. the cables does'nt seem broken, so don't know what to look for.

A good place to start with Dewalt tools is the switch. Take the front off the handle and pull the switch out far enough to test the posts on the back. Plug the cord in and check for voltage where the cord attaches to the switch. No voltage, bad cord, replace the cord. If you have voltage, the cord is good. With some help, hold the switch on and check for current on the motor side of the switch. If no voltage, replace the switch. If there is voltage there, you are going to have to check the brushes, armature and/or field for continuity or shorts.

SOURCE: repair intermittent switch on dewalt 20 Volt impact driver

Unfortunately Dewalt switches are solid state, meaning there is little to nothing you can do to fix them when they don't work. Occasionally spraying them with electronics cleaner and blowing them out with clean, dry air will make them work a little longer but more often than not you simply have to replace the switch. The part number for your driver is N084669. They cost between $65 and $75 so shop around or check with a local repair center.

My Dewalt DC925 works well but the torque settings don't seem to be working.when i am drilling screws the drill will just drill until i release the trigger.is this a clutch problem?. Many thanks.

Try to put it on the lowest torque and if it slips when wanted, then add a little more torque and check to make sure it slips. Continue at each torque setting and usually works again at full torque. Usually happens when left on the same torque all the time. This kind of resets it.

I'm answering without knowing which model you have but, there are some Dewalt drills that will go into hammer and/or drill mode only if the speed selector is in 2nd gear. The torque settings are accessable only in driver mode. Short of that you may have broken parts in the transmission that can only be repaired by replacing the transmission.

The drill works but you can hold the chuck while operating the drill.

could be a couple problems, is the switch selector fully engaged in hi/low and is the clutch seting set for the proper torque. If both OK then I would have to think that you need a new clutch assembly

Using a garden auger with the torque set to the highest setting the clutch broke and started to slip. Is this too much for the Dewalt 720 cordless drill? Dewalt is repairing it under warranty.

Yes, luckily Dewalt is taking care of you. You might want to look into a 1/2' drive electric model (sorry with a cord) Alot depends on how hard the ground is but in the long run the big electric will handle about anything you throw at it. Check Sears or Home Depot both good sources for good tools

I got one of these drivers to replace my older driver. It clearly has more than enough torque, which is good in some cases but for some routine things around the house it is too much. Even on the lowest...

Most models have two selections, one for the clutch (which in effect regulates the torque applied) and the other is the gear selection ( usually a setting of 1, 2 & 3, with 1 being for driving screws and 3 for drilling purposes). In addition to those selections, the trigger controls the overall speed of the motor. These are all the control you have over the drill, granted the Dewalt tool is a bit torquey, but it is meant to be a construction tool.

Amount of torque per setting in dewalt dc925 xrp

The torque settings are not tightly controlled so they are not all that repeatable from drill to drill. They also vary somewhat with the speed of the drill and the condition of the battery. And they aren't linear (a setting of 10 is not twice the 5 setting) Simplest thing to do for a rough idea is to use your hand to hold the chuck still to feel how much torque you have at each setting. (start low and grip it tight!) If you want a specific torque setting, say 10 ft-lbs, then put a stout screw in a scrap of wood, hang a 10 lb weight on it 12 inches from the screw and adjust until it just starts to slip.
