When I push the start button the motor hums. Button will not lock I have to keep pushing it in. After about five seconds it stops humming and acts like it tripped a breaker inside itself. Then it will smell like the motor is burned up but after a few minutes it will hum again when you push the button

f you hear the motor humming and not starting at all it most likely has a severe friction problem with the drum or motor. It could possibly have some type of garment jamming the blower wheel preventing the motor from starting too. Open the dryer door and manually rotate the dryer drum counter clockwise (CCW). It should take very little effort to rotate the drum. If it's hard to rotate that could explain why the motor hums instead of starting up. If it turns freely, shut the door and see if will start. If it still hums and not start it may have bad motor or a low voltage supply to the motor.

sounds like your motor might be stuck and the motor is sitting there trying to run until it trips out on the overload
Sounds like the motor is cutting out on its thermal fuse. The only cure is to change the motor.

Hey, either the belt is broke or something has happened to the tensioner pulley so remove front or rear panel & visually inspect & if belt is broken look & see if part # is still visible on belt surface & order a new belt.
SOURCE: I have the same problem!
don't do that anymore! If you're lucky, there is just something caught in the vent fan, if not you will probably need a new motor.

Hi Jeff wade, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?
If you include the brand name and model number of your dryer it would help.
