My pprh7ds stanley fatmax. the compressor doesn't work. It's supposed to read 1st the actual tire pressure ( like 36 psi ), but it registers 182 psi. & won't turn on.

There is a small pressure transducer inside the unit that measures the pressure. If the unit has been jarred around a lot or has gotten moisture in it, the part has failed.

Stanley Fatmax 1000 Peak Amp Power Station. How do you turn off the backlight please?

Question edited for clarity.

The LED Area Light or the Unit display. The backlit display always stays on to alert you to the internal battery status, so that when you come to use it, it should be fully charged.

Stanley Fatmax 450 Amp (Model J45TK)compressor starts and then stops right away. The charge is full showing the green LED light on.

You will likely have to open up the case to look inside.
The main components will be a circuit board, a 12v power supply, a 12v air pump and a 12v rechargeable battery. It sounds like a loose connection on the air compressor pump. When you turn it on it normally vibrates and is loud. This may be enough to shake loose a wire connection. If so it should be an easy fix to crimp or solder.

Stanley fatmax 450

Open up the case and look inside. A wire may have come off.
i had a brand new compressor that wouldn't power on. A wire was not connected. After reconnecting and a positive testing I put it back together. It ran for five minutes and stopped. It turns out the wire was too short (factory install) and came disconnected each time the compressor was turned on due to the vibration. I rerouted the wire so it wasn't so tight. Problem solved.
