There are only 2 motors on the VCR sections.1 motor for the rewind backward and speed foward.1 motor for take in the VHS tape and eject the tape. The play button also used the same rewind backward and speed forward motor to push the film foward to the VCR play head head drums to play the tape.
You need to use the video and audio outs located in the rear of the samsung player, or if you want to use the rf connector(atenna in) on the tv you need to select analog channel 3 or 4 to get a picture through, you can down load an owners manual at wwwretrevo.com.
You're describing what could be a loose or worn loading belt problem, most of the vcr mechanisms used in these combos use one to load the tape and thread it for it to play or record, that is why you have to keep puhing the tape untill the machine accepts the tape and you have to keep pressing play untill it starts the play function.
It sounds like the cassette is not releasing the tape so the machine can put it around the heads. This could damage the machine. Don't use it. A two dollar tape is not worth damaging your vcr. Throw it away.
well there could be two things going on here that i can think of, one the scart lead between the dvd and the tv is not i properly vica versa for the dvd player, the other thing is the button which changes the av channels could have been pushed so simply push the button while the dvd os on and find the av channel, the button looks like an arrow going right hope it helps.
you have probably bent the tab that holds the tape end sensor or its light. The tapes have a clear section at the end of the tape and the light shines through to the sensor to tell the unit that the tape is finished. The light should not pass through the recordable part of the tapes. If anything is bent the light may shine on the sensor and tell the unit you're at the end of the tape and to shut off. Some units have a tape tension sensor also that tells the unit that the tape is broken and to shut off. Only way to know is to remove power and take it apart and look for anything that may be bent. Stay away from the rotating head assembly and the posts that the tap travels on. Do not apply power with the unit open. Do not load a tape and remove power as some units freeze in the loaded position and will not load new tapes unless manually placed back in the unloaded position.
There are normally 2 causes.
One is some obstruction in the tape path. Please open the cover of the VCR and shake and see for foriegn objects.
Nothing???
Then there is one more possibility - Belts are loose..
Check the Tape Loading motor belt.Is it slack? This can happen over time.Change the belt.
