Hi Julie! If the cleaner is not picking up the dirty water this usually means something is not sealed off properly. Try these steps below to restore suction to your cleaner.

1. Remove the clean water tank. Recline the handle & let the handle lie down on the floor.
2. Remove the dirty water tank. Check that the dirty water tank cap is on the dirty water tank and tightened closed.
3. Clear the filter screen of any hair or debris.
4. Remove the nozzle. Clean the nozzle of any hair or debris.
5. Located on the machine behind the nozzle is a 2nd filter screen. Clean it of any hair or debris.
6. Replace the nozzle.
7. Replace the dirty water tank. Press down on all sides so that it is flush to the cleaner base.

Give it a try! The suction should be restored to your cleaner. If not I have included a video link where you may view these instructions. Hope this helps! Loss of Suction Won pick up Hoover Max Extract 77 FH50230 FH50222...

How to use the upholstery attachment for hoover max extra 60 carpet cleaner?

Hey there! The nozzle/valve that releases the solution from the hose may be clogged and not closing off to stop the solution flow. You can try soaking the trigger end in warm water for a few hours to unclog it. Also make sure you are inserting the hose back into the hose slot in the back of the cleaner. If the cleaner is still dispensing from both the hose and the cleaner, your nozzle/valve assembly may need to be replaced. To order a replacement nozzle/valve assembly follow the link below.

I am not sure when or how to change the filter for my ecoquest air purifier. I moved into a house with brand new carpets, floors, paint etc. and then had a flood. I was running the purifier fairly...

If you have a HEPA filter, it may need cleaning. Every month at least. If you figured you don't NEED one because of the machines abilities to knock down particulates, you're most likely right. HEPA "filters" tend to grow their OWN nasties after a short time with ANY moisture around at all. The plate may have VOC's crystallizing on the plate. Check the lint screen and if it doesn't smell bad(musty) and you can see light thru it when you hold it up to a light, it's probably only needing a vacuuming. Some people rinse them in warm soapy water. Make sure it's DRY before putting it back in.
