Hello Bob;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

I assume you are not referring to the lint filter on the top of your dryer.

Behind your dryer is a elongated hot air distribution manifold. Looking from the back of your dryer it is on the left. The manifold is fixed to the back of the dryer with screws. Unscrew the screws and remove the cover.
In the bottom of this manifold is where air flow blockage occurs. Clean this inlet out.
At this location you will not be exposed to any electrical or moving parts.
Cleaning this outlet will enhance the dryer air flow and dryer performance.

Are you getting little or no lint on the lint screen? Are the clothes coming out nearly as wet as they went in, but feel warm? If so, you probably have a blockage somewhere in the vent/duct. Don't just check the back of the dryer, but also check the duct thru the wall and the point where it exits the house (exterior wall or roof). Many times birds will nest in the exterior vents or if they have a screen to keep the birds out it may become clogged with lint. If you have a window nearby try drying a load with the vent hose disconnected from the wall and hang it out the window (you COULD vent it into the house, but you may end up with lint everywhere and a lot of moisture in your house).

I have gas dryer, the for heat works sometime

if it's a gas dryer and you have heat for the first 15 to 30 minutes and then no heat you have bad gas coils.when the coils are starting to fail they will work until they heat up and then stop working, when they cool you'll have heat again.very simple to fix, unplug the dryer, remove bottom panel or front panel to get at the gas valve.on top of the valve are the gas coils, remove two phillips screws, you might need a 1/4 inch socket with a phillips bit to take out the screws depending on your model and next time send model number so i can help you better, then remove cover, change one coil at a time.there is a little plastic ball on the top of the coils that line up with the cover and a metal spacer on the large coil that slides onto the post,if you don't see the spacer on the post poke it out of the old coil and slide it onto the post and then install the new coil.it's very simple.also if your clothes take a long time to dry you might have to clean out the dryer, all a dryer does is move air,if the lint blocks the vent line or the duct that the lint filter slides into you're gonna have problems.with a gas dryer you have an open flame inside and lint catches fire, you should clean the dryer every year and you'll have mostly no problems with it.if the vent line is long blow it out with a leaf blower, you'll see all the lint blow outside, then remove the duct that the lint filter slides into and clean that, next with a shop vac vac out the cabinet where the motor is and then put the vac on blow and blow the motor off and all your gas parts.if you need any more help let me know and send model number next time

I have a Samsung Model # DV448AEP/XAA and it has stopped heating. We have cleaned the lint that we can see and taken the lint hose off and cleaned that out. The dryer is still not heating. Any assistance...

Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

check out this electric no heat tip...

After one load, dryer stopped working. lint

With the exhaust clear, you need to be sure that air is actually moving. It could be a bound or bad exhaust blower.

How to clean internal lint buildup amana gas dryer model ALG643RBW

Buy a lint brush at Walmart or other retail store. It's a long plastic bristle brush that will allow you to reach down in to the cavity of the blower intake. I always use a vacuum hose to **** up what it pulls up so it won't fall back down in.

Lint trap

http://www.pcappliancerepair.com/model-display.php This will show you how your dryer is put together. The lint has gone directly to the fan, where it could affect fan performance. You would have to remove the front off the dryer, and the cover off the fan area. It's not a bad idea to clean this area once in a while.

Gas Dryer - takes to long to dry

Friend,
huuum At your service!

Sometimes this can happen when the vent line is clogged.

1. Check if the lint filter is full and needs to be cleaned.
Try this first. If the vent line is kinked or blocked
2. Then check if the outside screen covering the exhaust vent if this is even half blocked
with lint there will be no heat! This screen is to keep small animals out!
Try checking this and if it is clogged or the spring loaded door is stuck closed.
Try to clean the lint out of the corners of the flap door,
and or remove the screen permanently!
NO ANIMALS LIKE TO GET BURNT,IT'S HOT IN THAT TUBE!
Take the vent line off the rear of the dryer and try if it works. If it does you know it's the vent line and not the dryer that's the problem the dryer.

You will be fine
Bless You huuum
