Your best bet is to call support at 800-324-6496 and let them know the situation. They will ask you a few questions, then should be able to provide you with a new key.

go there and confirm the disk is visible to hardware.

In the same location ensure you can see cd/dvd ROM

in the same location make the cd/dvd ROM to be first when starting up computer.

save changes if need be.

put your cd/dvd ROM with starter operation system (assuming windows)
and load your computer.

CD Key is either on a label on the computer or on the installation CD

for your laptop type , I don't know exactly the keys for doing this, it may be (delete, any of F keys, etc,,,). but for all computers you must check the key for entering bois setup and change your boot order for your computer, and change it to your cd-rom or what you want, save changes, restart your computer, boot from your cd.

Your new computer came installed with a free trial. If it is asking for a product key, then the trial is over. I suggest going to eBay and purchasing the software as to purchasing full price. You can get a better dela from there.

Once you get the software in the mail, you can uninstall the trial version that is on you computer and install the new one. It will ask you for the product key, which is located on the Office box that the software come in.

How new is the computer? If you just barely got the PC, then you can run the free trial untill it ends. I think they give you 90 days.

If that is a VALID and LEGITIMATE key
Then put your ORIGINAL cd in the cd drive.

restart the computer and whilst it is booting look for an option onscreen to change the boot device.
Select you cd drive and continue

If you do not see that repeat the procedure and look for the message that tells you which key to press to go into setup.
Here you should find the option that allows you to change the boot device. Select it then save the changes as you exit these screens.

Once again it should boot from your original disk and you can continue to set up your operating system.

To Fix

1. Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer.
2. When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.
3. Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows.
4. Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and pressing enter.
5. You will then be prompted for your administrator password, enter that password.
6. Copy the below two files to the root directory of the primary hard disk. In the below example we are copying these files from the CD-ROM drive letter, which in this case is "e." This letter may be different on your computer.
   
   copy e:\i386\ntldr c:\
   copy e:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\
   
   
7. Once both of these files have been successfully copied, remove the CD from the computer and reboot

We can not give you cd keys here you will have to buy a new company or contact the company that makes the game.

If you have a bootleg copy of the software, there is nothing that can be done for you.
You must not have the program installed on other computers.
You must purchase an original Microsoft CD.
No temporary product key is required for the trial period, unless that has changed in Office 2007.

When you say "it isn't bootable from the cd", do you mean the cd isn't a bootable cd?, or the computer isn't configured to boot from a cd? If the latter, I suggest obtaining a bootable ME cd, but if the computer isn't configured to boot from a cd, depending on the computer motherboard, you will need to access the bios setup, either by pressing the 'DEL', 'F1', or 'F10' key during boot, then under a section called 'boot' or 'advanced-->peripherals' should be the settings on changing the boot sequence, if it's set to this sequence:- 1........REMOVABLE DEVICE 2........HD 3........CDROM 4........NETWORK (not available on some systems) You will need to change the sequence to:- 1.......CDROM 2.......REMOVAL DEVICE 3.......HD 4.......NETWORK (Not available on some systems) Then press the relevent key to 'save & exit', this will enable you to use an ME bootable cd to re-install ME on a clean hard drive.
