the hum is from the motor being powered but not turning. repeatedly letting this happen may burn out the motor. It is possible that one of the windings is already fried so the motor cannot develop enough torque to start rotation.
to develop the start torque needed to run a two hp or more motor a capacitator is used to temperarly boost the power up(faster than a human can do it) so that motor gets a short extra jolt of power so it can start to turn , unfortuniatly these "caps" dry out in a few seasons from all the heat they make in use and no longer give that "Jolt" needed motor fails to start to move and they require replacement to makeit right again
Do not turn on again !!!!!!!!!! Motor is jammed and will not turn. You are risking burning out the motor windings and rendering it totally unusable. Expensive part.
If unit has not been operated for a while it is possible that the bearings may have seized temporarily. Since those motors do not develop high torque at start up it will stay stalled and burn out if powered up.
Get to motor and make sure that you loosen the shaft with a good pair of vise grips and possible extension for leverage and power.
induction motors develop max hp at the set RPM and current setting according to the windings in the motor. The use of flywheels in the system help the motor to hold steady rpm when a sudden load is applied as the stored energy in the spinning flywheel overcomes the sudden draw of power and stops the loss of rpm's . If you want more HP get a bigger motor.. ( HP is now an irrelevant term as it not an accurate to describe the motor's capacity . The definition is now torque or the ability to turn a shaft That is why older motors were bigger and used more current than the smaller motors that produce more torque for less current

torque increase the year before, powertrains saw no change in this

You may want to check all of you engine mouting bolts to make sure they are torqued correctly. As to the shafts and chain they are really only replaced when out of limits. I would be very surprised if they were out of limits and the only problem. While I have not seen every 88B motor....we rebuild them and most often don't replace those items. Hope this helps.

Either the motor aint turning or it is being stopped from turning...Usally drum or developer units cant turn, or main motor or control board stuffed...

Suggested causes
The main motor is overloaded. Overcurrent in the main motor circuitry due to an excessive torque....... Check Drum, developer unit, toner cartridge and process units ensuring free movement
• Connector insertion error........check developer plug is secure (left top near toner cart little plug)
• Defective gate array U204 on the engine
board (KP-864). .......replace board
• Defective harness between engine board and
engine relay board (KP-760). .........secure replace cable
• Defective harness between engine relay board
(KP-760) and main motor.
