Dell 3010cn prints only blank pages

We bought this printer second hand only to find it prints exclusively blank pages, even the test page. Some residual specks of dark color ("toner dust") is visible on these pages. The paper is warm after "printing". We have installed new toner cartriges, though not original Dell toner but some no-name compatible. This problem persists using both Linux and Windows drivers, and both USB and Network connection. Any thoughts on what might be wrong? Thanks a lot for your help!

Dear Anna: Like your problem is related with the laser unit (ROS ASS), I mean, the printer do not print to the paper the image that have or could have in the drum.

We need to test if this is the problem. To do this, please, with much care: turn on the printer, wait it do it the initial test (5 to 15 seconds more or less), verify have paper in the correct position and the size too in the tray. Print a "config page", but not from "Windows, instead of the same printer. For do this: press Menu, with the vertical or horizontal litle sparrow , chose "print information", then choose "config page" and press the central key to execute it.(See page 32 of this document: http://configpages.blogspot.com/2012/01/dell-3000cn.html)

If you want, look this links beside: ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_printers_main/esuprt_printers/dell-3010cn_User%27s%20Guide_en-us.pdf.

And: http://configpages.blogspot.com/2012/01/dell-3000cn.html

If the config.page was printed well, the printer is not the problem. Try to uninstall the drivers of this printer and then reinstall the right and updated drives from the DELL web link and test again from Windows now.

But if the config. page was printed "in blanking", we have other problem, like the lasser unit.

If you now how to get out a page was have a paper jam in this printer, do it the following actions, if not, do not follow please, because could cause a major problem.

I will give you the actions to take it if you do not resolve the problem with the indicated. Please give your information that what happened.

Testimonial: "Dear Jose, thank you very much for your attention! Unfortunately, the config page comes out blank, too. (I said "test page" incorrectly.) There is no paper jam, as the pages move through the printer correctly, except that the toner does not stick to them. Also, before installing the new toner I checked the interior. Sorry that this hasn't solved the problem yet, but maybe you can help me still? Cheers!"

Dear Anna! Very good for your testimonial. Never use anything but OEM drums and toner in this printer. Is a litle hard to say that problem is the lasser scanner. The "config.page" is not the "test page", the last is from Windows, the first is from the "bios" of the printer. Get out the imaging drum, I put an image of them. Check it very well. Have a movile parte

The imaging drum have a cilynder with a photosensitivity surface, check in there is any text write on them, if it is totally clean, this mean the laser unit do not write on the drum, but could be the lasser ray do not come to the drum surface because there is an object that does block the ray. Check this well. Check cables and connectors too on the belt drive, i put another image of the belt drive. Check all very well, and replay the results.

SOURCE: Pages full of toner / toner streaking

First off, this is a comment from a random person who may or may not know ALOT about these printers and toner/printer design in general. All toners are not designed to the same specification. Toner is a combination of plastic "pigment" and iron like shavings to make it magentically attracted to the electrical charges within the unit. Different toners conform to different grades and mainly size of the particles within the blend. The manufacturer doesnt only recommend that you use their toner to make them money, yes of course it makes money, but its because when the unit is designed it is designed to use a certain grade of toner, trust me if you put the non-branded toner vs the branded toner under a microscope you would see quite a difference. Often the non-branded toner is much larger in particle size (obviousely because its cheaper to make at this spec). This causes a variety of issues from excess toner not being cleaned off of developer rollers, IDT rollers, or clogging of toner dispenser tubes in the unit and the micro filters contained at the toner dispenser assy and developer assys. Also as for the issue not changing when switching to dell branded toner - the dispenser tubes within this unit contain up to 500-1000 pages worth of toner, making no change in toner you make immediately visible. Also depending on the damage caused by the previous toner, it may not be able to be fixed until all the components in between the toner and final delivery (drum cart) are replaced. In this case more than likely the toner dispenser assy, all developer assy's, and drum cartridge need to be replaced, and than be sure to stick with factory branded toner :)

My Dell 3010cn has does not print the far right hand part of the page any longer. I have replaced toner, drum and looked for blockage. What could be the problem?

Hi,
It is most likely be due to dust/ toner dust accumulation at the laser reflecting mirrors inside the copier, which partially blocks laser beams and results in faint print. Therefore the printer requires cleaning/ servicing by a professional.

Hope it helps! Good Luck!

My DELL 3010CN is printing a thick black line on the right hand margin on all pages printed.

Often Toner sticks to fuser. When the fuser heats the toner comes off onto the paper. Should reduce over time unless toner is spilling onto the fuser in the same place.

Change fuser and toner

thanks

My Dell 962 printer only prints blank pages.

The ink is dry.

Try repeatly going through a cleaning cycle.

If not, remove all ink cartridges and pour some 100% Alcohol where the cartridge is and leave it there for 1 hour.

Afterwards, go through a few more cleaning cycle.
Make sure you have spare ink.
