Hello my name is Devin, I have a wd-65735 model and I just purchased it off of a friend and braught it home. He had told us from laying it on its side while bringing it home it said in the guide to let it sit plugged in for 60 mins before powering on. So we did. The tv comes on an we can hear audio and for a moment you can see everything, the coloration is right, not dots on the screen, everything looks good but then it shuts off and all three lights allumimate an then the red 'status' light alluminates 4 times an then the red 'status' and green 'timer' light alluminate repeatedly and do not stop untill tv is unplugged. We cannot seem to find the code for this and are very confused. What is the problem..?

Caveat: I am not a tech, I just read through the Mitsubishi service manual, and have worked on different model TV that I have owned (older model of this one) I am a little unclear on the second set of lights but I think the combination *may* indicate that the lamp fan is not starting (there are two fans though), if the blinking red is the status light. It is possible the connector for that got jostled during the trip, something fell into it from being on the side (wire or loose something) and is blocking it from spinning now, or a module unseated a bit,and is loose, or the lamp is no longer seated correctly (though the lamp light does not appear to be on) or none of these. :) These are just guesses.
Be careful if you open it up, due to potential for shock. Wear gloves, and power it down first (then unplug). Reseat any fan connectors.

Google: I used "wd-65735 status lights" to find a service pdf , it's for V39 chassis (several models)

From page 24 of Service Manual :

3. Error Code Operational Check Note: The TV must be in "Shut Down" and not have been switched Off, to perform the Error Code Opera- tional Check. When the TV is switched Off, the code automatically resets to "12" No Error.
Pressing the front panel "INPUT" and "MENU" buttons at the same time, and holding for 5 seconds, activates the Error Code Mode. The "TIMER LED" flashes denoting a two digit Error Code, or indicating no problem has occurred since the last Initialization.
Note: The front panel buttons must be used, NOT those on the Remote Control.

  • Theflashingthenpausesforapproximately1/2second.
  • TheLEDthenflashesindicatingthevalueoftheLSD(onesdigit)oftheErrorCode.
  • The Error Code is repeated a total of 5 times. Example: If the Error Code is "23", the LED will flash two times, pause, and then flash three times.

SOURCE: Mitsubishi WD-62628 power shuts off!

You most likely have some faulty capacitors on the power module. You can easily identify a bust capacitor. They will have swollen tops. Here is a sample pic:

Check the specifications of the faulty capacitors, and getthe replacements from your local electronics shop. If you are comfortable withthis, you can use a pair of needle nose pliers to G-E-N-T-L-Y pull out thedefunct capacitors. Once that is done, solder in the new capacitors carefully. Ifare unsure how to do this, try to get a friend who knows this kinda stuff to doit for you, or get a qualified technician.
Warning: If you do not have a background inelectronics repair, or are inexperienced, get a qualified technician to do itfor you.

REMEMBER there are very dangerous voltages inside a TVthat can KILL. Be sure to work SAFE when dealing with electricity. DISCONNECTTHE POWER BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING.

If you want to go in for a long term solution, youcan easily replace the whole power board. You can get spare from HERE.
They also offer FREE online technical advice as you do the DIY..

Hope that helps!

SOURCE: blinking green timer light

I purchased my WD 62725 in January of 2005 and have had way too many problems with something costing this much.  My green reset button is now blinking and I have read and tried all of the suggested solutions. All of them have failed.  I sure think Mitsubishi should be held more responsible than they seem to be.  Some one suggested a class action lawsuit.  I would sure join one.  Jack P

SOURCE: Hitachi 50ux58b

If you have Hitachi model number 50UX58B, 60UX58B, 50UX58K, 60UX58K, 50SBX78B or 60SBX78B and you have the following symptoms you may want to grab a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kit that includes the parts and instructions to fix these models. This is a fairly common problem with the above model numbers. It is typically caused by a blown capacitor and pico fuse. Again, you can get a kit from the above address.
Here are the symptoms...

Primary Symptom: No Audio or Video. Power light will come on briefly then shut off.
Other Possible Symptoms : The green LEDs on the circuit board light up for a few seconds then turn off.

Hope this helps,

SOURCE: STATUS LIGHT SOLID RED ON 73 DLP MITSU MODEL WD73735

The colorwheel is your problem. To confirm this, unplug the tv, then listen thru the air vents in the back as you plug the tv in. You will probably hear a ticking sound. If you do, that is the colrwheel. If the colrwheel is working, youwill be able to hear it "spin up". It will be a sudden high pitch whine. Let me know if I can be of further assistance
