Lowrance has started using the same power cord on their Elite units and their HDS units. The yellow wire on the power cable is an accessory wake up wire designed to be used in conjunction with the structure scan modules for the HDS.
You can simply tape this wire off during your installation ND ignore it.

on your has 7 push the pages button on the upper right hand corner of your unit. Then refer to page 18 of your manual to change your overlay data.

DTC P0498: EVAP Canister Vent Shut
Valve Control Circuit Low Voltage
NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any
on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting informa
tion.
1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
2. Clear the DTC with the HDS. (scan tool)
3. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC P0498 indicated?
YES
- Go to step 6.
NO
- Go to step 4.
4. Select EVAP CVS ON in the
INSPECTION MENU with the HDS.
5. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC P0498 indicated?
YES
-
Go to step 6.
NO
- Intermittent failure, the system is OK at
this time. Check for poor connections or loose
terminals at the EVAP canister vent shut valve and the PCM.

6. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
7. Disconnect the EVAP canister v
ent shut valve 2P connector.
8. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
9. Measure voltage between EVAP canister vent shut
valve 2P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground.
Is there battery voltage?
YES
-
Go to step 10.
NO
- Repair open in the wire between t
he EVAP canister vent shut valve and the A/F
sensor relay (LAF), then go to step 18.
My HDS gen 2 touch did this and I decided to open it up since Lowrance wouldn't help (out of warranty 2yr). The ribbon cable from the motherboard to the display came loose. Connected it back up and now I'm in business
Test your Lowrance HDS 7 on different power sources e.g. on another motorboat to find out whether this is the problem of the boat's power supply or the HDS 7 itself - this advice will only help you to determine whether to call the boat-repairman or the lowrance hds 7 seller warranty service.
You do not need the data cable connected unles you are hooking it up to other electronics, ie computer, second GPS sounder ect. You only need to conect the red to the positive on the battery and the black to the negative.
