Remote control sensor in the TV no longer picks up commands from remote. Functions from the Comcast box still work, but no commands to TV have any effect.

I have the same problem. When I move the 8300HDC away from the TV, or power off the TV, the remote responds. There seems to be some kind of RF interference, which makes no sense since the TV shouldn't emit RF, and the the box should be using IR only for remote input. My TV is a 46" LCD Samsung. Try turning off the TV and see if the 8300HDC responds to powering on and off with the remote.

Will not turn on. TV is pluged in its almost like a power surge. The power bar is lit so for some reason the tv is not getting power.

Unplug your set from the wall and wait a few minutes. This fixed the same issue on my 50V715
