Well it seems that you have uploaded the firmware on the router using wireless connection. The firmware on the router has corrupted and now does not seem to be recoverable.

Dude if it is under warranty then get it replaced. To log a complaint with NETGEAR go to this site:

http://my.netgear.com

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

This is from Netgear help pages, it seems they want to blame your ISP for rejecting the router. Follow their procedures and see what happens. I hope this helps.

    Have you tried this?

    To Spoof a MAC Address

Connect the computer that your ISP's installers used to establish Internet connection to the router.

If you are unsure which computer was used, call your ISP, and ask what MAC address was registered. Then, using the instructions in the box below find the computer whose MAC address matches their records.

Disconnect other computers from the router.

(If you do not want to disconnect other computers, you need to know the adapter's MAC address, as described in the box below. Then, in step 6, type Use This MAC Address, entering the adapter's address.)

In an Internet browser type the address 192.168.0.1.

Type admin for the username, password for the password, and click OK.

Go to the Basic Settings > Router Mac Address.

        Select Use Computer MAC Address.

Click Apply. This automatically gives the router the computer's MAC address.

Click Test to make sure you are connected. If you are not connected, contact your ISP.

Hi, my netgear rangemax wpn824 v2's firmware update was intrpted by power surge. now i can't access router, how can i solve that issue. thanks

Hi
As i can see that you have mentioned that the firmware upgrade was interrupted & now u can not access the router. Now you can try the following troubleshooting steps
1) press in the reset hole on the back of the router for 10-15 secs.
If it doesn't work
2) press in the reset hole for 10 secs & while pressing the hole take the power cable out, while still pressing the whole put the power cable back in &release the hole.
3) turn off the router for 1-2 mins & then turn it on.....& if the same problem persists that means that the router has gone faulty. You have to buy a new router or get it replaced from NETGEAR.

Thank You

Need to reset netgear router wpn824v2

Don't tell me you tried to upload the firmware from a wireless connection.

It's probably bricked. You could act stupid and send it back to Netgear, claiming it just died...(it did right?) and in the meanwhile, Staples is selling 624's for $40 this week.

Need to get into the router settings , but the default username and password aren't working, I've already held the reset button down for 30 secs and tried login admin:password , but no luck...

Since you already tried steps 1 thru 4, give steps 5 and on a try

Write down configuration information such as IP addresses, security keys, opened ports and services, etc., that you modified. (The default username is admin and the password is either password or 1234. Try these before resetting the router.)
  1. Press the reset button on the back until the test light blinks. This takes about 10 seconds. (To avoid accidental resets, the small button is recessed. Use a pen or paperclip to access it.)
  2. Release the button.
  3. Wait for the router to reboot.
  4. Log in with the default password. If the router was not cleared, try these additional steps AFTER the router has finished rebooting.
  5. Unplug the router's power.
  6. Press and hold the reset button. While the button is held down, reconnect router's power.
  7. Continue to hold the reset button for 20 seconds after reconnecting the power.
  8. Wait for the router to reboot.
  9. Log in with the default password.
