SINGER XL1000 SEWING MACHINE

Hi Peggy,

I know this want be easy for you.  I need any kind of part number you can get off the LCD screen.  Is it a display and you type the different stitch stuff into a keypad?  Or , is the LCD a touch screen that you touch the screen to select a stitch?  I do not have one of these Sewing machines, but I do Electronics repair. Is your Screen Black and not displaying anything?  I believe we can work through this and get you a repair solution. The back light may have gone out on the screen only. Please reply with more info, so that we can get you a solid solution.  By the way, Singer really does not make those anymore.  They are making a more modern Screen at this time. Usually after 5 years, the manufacturers stop making parts for a model. Good news though, we can work on repairing the one you have. Go to Ebay and see if we can buy a XL1000, or other venue to rob the parts from.

Stitch option settings dial not responding

An older mechanical machine? Possibly could use a good cleaning and oiling. Old oil may have solidified and preventing things from moving.

I dont have the instruction manual and i cant figure out how to do a zig zag stitch? Help

You don't say the make and model of sewing machine. But generally zig zag is achieved by selecting the zig zig stitch on the stitch selector, then setting stitch length to 2 and stitch, width to between 3 and 4, depending on the fabric. If its a very light weight fabric 4 the thread will pull in and tunnel the fabric so turn down to narrow the width of the stitch.

Bernina 180E Touch Screen Dark, machine light won't come on.

I don't know the circuit of this sewing machine but it gives me the impression the light and the board are in series with a fuse. If this is true the light will burn out and cause the screen to go black as well. If the fuse would go out the same thing would be true. Anyway, change the light first. If this doesn't work you will need to replace the fuse. If there are still problems it will need the mother board to be replaced. Tell me how this worked out.

My touch screen doesn't respond to touch what can I do?

techincally, you would have to take it to your nearest janome dealer and have them install a new touch screen...it might be something as simple as the digitizer which is the "touch" part of the screen which allows you to select your stitches ETC.

SP in display window, no options?

SP means that the bobbin winder has been pushed to the right in preparation for winding the bobbin. Just click the winding post to the left till it clicks, and the stitch number will be displayed.
