My generator will turn over but wont start

Our motorhome Onan 5000 Marquis generator will turn over and try to start but fails everytime we test. We have primed, gas and oil are fine and we have new spark plugs. We also changed the gas filter on the generator. Any suggestion? Thanks, Loretta

This gen won't start , good fuel, carb good get's air & fuel spark plug new. any ideas

if it has air fuel and spark then check the compression. if it has all 4 of those then it will be a timing issue but I am willing to bet you are missing 1 of the 4.

I have a 12kw lp gas genwrator that starts and runs for about ten seconds and then shuts down.after maybe 25 tries doing this the generator will stay running and then i try and start it again and it will...

These type of gens have a low oil shutoff. Check the oil. Always have spare spark plugs, a cheap fix. My gen always wanted a new plug every year. Look to see if it has a fuel filter.

4000 watt buffalo tools generator: Engine Starts, but after a few minutes it cuts out and stops running. No appliances plugged in, drained gas(it did sit for 6 months), oil is full, Plug is good.

Idle speed jet or passage and/or high speed jet/passage is clogged. Remove the carb and inspect and clean thoroughly, then re-install. Set idle and high spped screws approx 1 turn and tune to run smooth from there.

A coleman generator 6875 won't start please give

Dump ALL old fuel out of tank, you might have got a clog in the fuel line, carburator, fuel valve. Remove carb bottom Sediment bowl then spray Carb cleaner thru the gas inlet AT the carb 3-4 secs CAUTION: KEEP YOUR HEAD BACK.. that cleaner hurts if you get it in your eyes... and NEVER SPRAY A HOT ENGINE (np with yours tho no start) Refill tank with NEW fuel (or strained at least if emergency remote repair) Place a suitable catch container over gas inlet line to carb (at carb) open fuel valve chk for fuel FLOWING (no dripping) into container. replace fuel line to carb start as normal
if not firing still chk that spark plug, might need cleaning now that rest is ok.

Wont start has spark , new fuel, new oil.

Is the spark plug black?
It won't run well with a carbonized plug.

Is the main jet in the carb plugged?
If the plug is dry after trying to start it.....your fuel is not getting into the engine and most likely a plugged carb jet..
Also.....Is the fuel switch working...is it in run position?

If the generator has sat for a while with fuel left in the carb/fuel tank.......the most common problem is a plugged varnished dirty carburetor in need of a good cleaning.
Always shut the fuel off and let the carb run dry (run until the engine stops)before storing.
Add fuel stabilizer to any remaining fuel or drain the tank before storing.
