My Sylvania 46" tv began turning off automatically, turns itself on and now will not turn on at all

Same exact problem with my Sylvania combo.

SOURCE: tv goes on for 5-10 seconds then turns off

could be that either the dvd or the vcr are malfunctioning, usually it is the vcr that creates the problem. If you turn tv on and set vol to low see if you can hear the noise of the motor loading or trying to load,with out a tape inside. It may be a good idea to have a qualified tech repair it, these units are difficult to work on and further problems may come up if you are not familiar with the tv.

check the motor charge belt on the vcr and change it
