I have a whirpool side by side model ED5GVEXVD the freezer is cold around 0 deg but the fridge is warm and wont cool past about 48 or 49 deg. I have cleaned coils under fridge and located the fan it is working and clean. I located vents in fridge and they are clear. The coils inside of the back of freezer are cold and clean and the circulation fan inside back of freezer is clean and working. When i have both doors open i feel strong air flow from freezer to fridge from the top vent. But when i close freezer I feel no air flow from freezer to fridge from top vent. Is there an outside air intake vent somewhere that could be clogged or blocked? What else can i do?

If the freezer temps are normal and the refrigerator is warmer than normal, the the air flow from freezer to refrigerator is being hampered either by ice on the evaporator or the freezer is stuff in such a way that normal airflow between freezer and fridge is hampered. If the auto defrost is not working properly you will have warmer freezer temps and a relatively warm refridge. Check the defrost timer and defrost heater element.
Fridge gets cold air from freezer to cool it. Your freezer is fine but not enough cold air is getting into fridge compartment. U have some dampers or louvers that direct air flow to fridge and if they are not set properly cooling will not be adequate. Check those out.
ice maker will not work if freezer is too warm . it must be 15 deg or lower and if fresh food is that cold then the food is frozen. the freezer needs to be 0 to 5 deg and the fresh food side 38 def is best . / you may be having a defrost problem and the cold coil is packed with ice and prevent ing air flow .. ck for ice in back of freezer .. mm
It sounds like the condenser coils , the coils by the compressor , need cleaned badly . This (and the compressor cooling fan) , can cause the compressor to cut off on overload (due to the heat) , thereby not circulation refrigerant thru out the freezer coils .
The water line goes from inside the freezer door ( cold ) , under the refrig ( warm ) , then to the inside refrig water reservoir ( cold ) . After that , you should get cold water , until the reservoir is drained of cold water .
Is this a self defrost model? Frost inside the freezer could be an air leak around the door gasket. Remove the back panel in the freezer and completely defrost the coils. Is the fan running in the freezer. That will make the frig not be cool. With the door closed peek in the gasket to make sure the light is shutting off, this will warm a frig also. Eric
if the freezer is cold and the fridge is not then it can be several things. The freezer could have a bunrt out defrost heater, defrost timer faulty, fan not working in the freezer??. all of these things will stop your fridge getting cold, but your freezer will still be around minus 9 deg c. you wont get any air into the fridge as the coil in the freezer is prob all iced over. Dont worry about the heat on the door frame as it is only the anti sweat heater
You should try to clean the coils under the fridge . Thats a simple thing to try .If your fridge /freezer cant remove the heat it wont cool ,also please make sure your doors are closing tight. We can start on all the free things you can try first..
On a fridge freezer only the fridge temperature is monitored. In a cold location the fridge might not even need cooling and the freezer would get too warm but the thing won't care.
If the fridge sensor sees it as too warm then it will keep the motor running and the first thing to get really cold is the freezer.
Remember the freezing part is not temperature controlled ion a fridgefreezer.
