Did you check behind the toe-kick panel for the tech data sheet? Assuming that you have checked and that it is missing, there here is the "secret keystrokes" that will make most Whirlpool/ KitchenAid/Kenmore/Maytag diswashers enter the diagnostic cycle:
Heated Dry - Normal - Heated Dry - Normal; or
High Temp - Air Dry - High Temp - Air Dry; or
Hi Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry, Hi Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry; or
High Temp Wash, Heated Dry, High Temp Wash, Heated Dry.

Note: On some of the newer Whirlpool, Kenmore, KitchenAid dishwashers, you start the diagnostic cycle by rapidly pressing the 3 left-most keys in the following sequence: 1 2 3, 1 2 3, 1 2 3.

Why is my Kitchenaid dishwasher model KUDS01DJSS0 pump making loud humming noise? Pump motor suddenly began making loud humming noise when running. (not so bad when draining).

Some dishwashers have a soft food disposal inside. If something is hung up, it will grind or hum for a long time. If this is the problem, it will eventually go away.

I have a Kitchenaid dishwasher with stainless steel inside and I am having trouble with white residue on my plastics and flatware. What can I do to prevent this?

it's either:
  • a problem with water softener if you have one. get it serviced.
  • water is too hard and you don't have a water softener, check water hardness and install water softener if necessary
  • too much detergent used, try using less
  • too much or too little rinse aid liquid used. Adjust, test, repeat ;)
Hope this helps,

KA: KUDI0 w S/S tub 6 years old. Used only 2-3 times a week. When she runs the DW, there is a smell of burning plastic (wire insulation). It runs fine so far

Better open the back cover and give a visual inspection! If there are loose terminal joints on the heater it may create intermittent joint and thereby heating the terminals and the wire.

Switch OFF the machine, remove the plug and test. Look for discoloured wire insulation. Correct it. Take assistance from the service personnel, if you find it difficult.

Kitchenaid kudso1dlss3 clean light flashing cannot do a new cycle

I do not have the same model as you, my model is KUD01ILBS6 but I have the same problem. A service tech told me it was a error code and here is how to fix it.

1 open the dishwasher door
2 hit high temp scrub button
3 then hit energy saver dry button
4 do step 2 & 3 again
5 close the door
6 hit the cancel button
7 you can hit cancel button again then try to start your dishwasher

This works for me, you may have to do this every few months because there is a glitch in kitchenaid where if the water temp is not sensed right it will keep the dishwasher from working. It took me 3 service calls to find this out.

Lights flashing on clean. Program does not take.

you can open the lowe racess panel of d/w and you find a techsheet/ trouble shooter, in ther they will explain how to reset a clean light blinkin 7 times.. you can try pushing the "sani-rinse"---"heated dry"--- "sani-rinse" --- "heated dry"... toggling these buttons will triggor a test mode, youl know your in it for all the lights will light, close the door and wait 30 secs or so, the reopen door and cancel cycle, after it runs for 2min it will be ready fro you to start using again.. of the clean light issue returns, id recommned calling for service

Kitchenaid double-drawer dishwasher will not start

i just installed a used dishwasher. It filled up with water then stopped. The lights are still on as far as the cycles but nothing is happening. I did the factory diagnostic test and the service diagnostic test, not sure how long each test was supposed to take because after it seemed to go through each cycle by the lights on the front nothing else happened. I waited over 30minutes because I didn't know how long this was going to take. When all the lights on the front went out I tried to turn it on like to run a wash cycle and nothing is happening and the bottom is still full on water. HELP!!
