I think i have a virus

I have an internet dongle which connects to my laptop, and lets me connect to the internet, but when my laptop is first turned on it sais it fails to connect to a windows service, and then it will not load any internet pages, i dont really want to take it to a shop as its very expensive, and was looking for a home solution that i could do myself any advice would be really helpful!! This is probably not a virus. More likely a driver misconfiguration.
Try plugging the dongle only after your computer is turned on and windows has already started.
If this does not help, please elaborate on the type of the dongle? is it a wifi network card or a cellular modem?

Wired is always better than Wi Fi but if the dongle is acting like you state it sounds like the dongle could be faulty

you should check the set APN on the vista pc. or if settings are inserted by default, simply uninstall and reinstall the 3 broadband dongle. if problem persists, and you are sure it has worked before, do system restore to a date you think connection was ok. malware or virus may cause modems to fail initializing connection.

There's a lot of available wifi adapters out there that you can just plug into your laptop's usb port. You can try looking them up online or in computer shops.

Hello, motorola phone pc suite or phone tools software no longer works for using net from mobile. It may better to use bluetooth dongle to connect net. Just purchase a bluetooth dongle then install driver n on your phone's bluetooth and connect it with dongle select PAN connection if possible otherwise make dial up connection. This will surely work

I can log on to the internet withhout having the dongle into the lap top how is it working would i be opening the laptop to viruses

it is possibly that your laptop is presently connected to an unsecuired wireless network, in order to check that click on start go to connect to & it will tell the network is connected

Skype sometimes working!

Hi,

Looks like connectivity issue, so it can be wi-fi dongle.
If any other pc/laptop has wired internet connection Or if you can wire-connect present pc/laptop then you can test using skype from it. If it works fine then wi-fi dongle maybe the culprit.

Also there are many sites for testing internet connection speed etc.
Test your internet connection using the dongle.

Have connected the wireless router,I am receiving internet to laptop but now internet is lost from pc. Connection has been installed correctly i think.

you should make a connection from your PC to your router then connect your laptop to your PC's internet connection... you will need 2 dongles 1 in your PC and 1 in your laptop (unless you have it built in). get the connection on the PC first then find the connection from your laptop to your PC
