This is how you put it back to Factory Settings...
1) Press and Hold the F11 key during boot.
If you are unable to get into Windows to start the recovery then you start the process when you first switch on the PC.
As soon as you turn on your PC, tap the F11 key on the keyboard until you get the "Windows is loading files..." message. When Recovery Manager has loaded click advanced options. Choose system recovery.
If you wish to try and backup any data then choose backup your files first and follow the on screen instructions. To run the recovery without backing up your data choose to recover without back up.
The recovery will launch and restore your system back to it's factory default state.
This is how you put it back to Factory Settings from desktop...
1) You can start the recovery from within Windows as follows:
Click Start
Click All Programs
Click Recovery Manager
Click Recovery Manager again
Click next when the Recovery Manager program loads. You will be prompted with several questions before the recovery starts.
"Would you like to perform a program recovery?" - choose no
"Would you like to perform a driver recovery?" - choose no
"Would you like to launch Microsoft System Restore?" - choose no
"Would you like to recover your computer to its original factory condition?" - choose yes
The computer will now restart and launch the recovery program.
NOTE: Some computers are F10.
OR
1) Turn on the computer
2) Start tapping/pressing F12 for Boot Menu
3) Insert HP Recovery Disc
4) Select DVD/CD-ROM and press enter
5) Press any key to start the installation

SOURCE: factory.settings

Hi,

According to what you have said, you might have created the Recovery disks after purchasing the notebook. Now you are trying to restore the notebook to factory settings, but they are not working.

Even you have tried to F11 options to restore notebook using the Recovery partition of your notebook.

Let me assist you in this regard.

If the recovery disks are not booting, then we have to check if the issue is with the disks or with the CD/DVD drive itself.

To check that, you need to try to boot with any other OS CD. If the notebook is booting with other OS disks, then the issue is with the Recovery disks itself.

Even F11 option is not working, you have to make sure that D: Recovery is not removed.

For your information, if the issue is with the Recovery disks, then you can purchase the Recovery disks from Hp at very low price.

You can order them from the below link:

Under
CD-ROM order page - Recovery Discs you can order the place order for Recovery disks.

Where dos jumper located on compaq 6910p and how can i remove bios password on 6910p

Most "laptop" computer do *NOT* have a jumper that can be used to bypass a BIOS password.
This is DELIBERATELY done, so that a thief in possession of your laptop cannot bypass your password, and thus cannot use your stolen laptop.

Find your original bill-of-sale, to prove ownership, and telephone HP/Compaq, and ask for Technical Supoprt in resetting the BIOS password.

Is buying this Hp Compaq 6910p Battery a wise decision?

I have bought a couple of batteries from them before. They work just make sure that the voltage of the battery. (10.8v) matches the voltage on your battery. Also make sure that the mah 6600mah is greater or the same as the battery that you have. The mah is the mili ampers per hour (in other words the fuel) the bigger the mah the longer your battery will run. I also find ebay a great place to buy hp batterys from. Just make sure that they are oem hp and not a generic knock off and you will be fine and use the same rules from above. and also make sure they will fit your model number. I hope this helps
thanks

When typing on my HP notebook (Compaq 6910p) I find the cursor jumping from place to place as I type.........Help. Doesn't seem to be any pattern to the issue.

Hi,
The sensitivity of the touchpad maybe too high, this is a common problem and can be easily sorted.
Go into the control panel and select mouse, there you can set the sensitivity of the pad.

See if that helps any!!!

Good luck.

Wont boot up just shows a corser at top left screen

You may need to reset your BIOS configuration. When you power on your notebook, you should see a function to enter your BIOS setting. Once in the BIOS, select the "Reset the BIOS to default settings". Then select "Save setting and exit". This should correct your problem. Good luck.
