SOURCE: Dell Latitude D610 Laptop wont turn on

Press the volume button and the power button at the same time. Hold them down untill the diagnostic program starts. Let it run it's course. It will stop on the problem. Fix the issue. I had the same issue. It was a simple world clock setting for me. Go figure?

SOURCE: My Dell Latitude D610 Battery Stopped Working

The battery light flashing RED/AMber is an indication of a failed battery.

Portable batteries have a life expectancy of 300 to 500 recharge/discharge cycles. (roughly 18 months under normal use) After that, the charge life starts to drop off and eventually it will not hold a charge. Because of this, the battery is considered a consumable item and is only warranted for one year from the manufacturer.

Since all the systems listed in the post are D610's (4 to 5 years old) it is not surprising that the batteries are failing.

Dropped Puck, if you replace the battery and a new battery doesn't charge/run the system, then the charging circuit on the MB is failed.

SOURCE: I cannot do a Print Screen with my Dell Latitude

Based on your keyboard layout, you don't need a key combination to capture your screen. Just press the "Print Scrn" button and your screen image will be copied to your clipboard. Now if you have pressed the "Print Scrn" key, go to MS Paint or any other image processing programs and "paste" it there.

Notice that your "Print Scrn" key is printed on top of the keyboard key and in white color. That means that it is the default key when pressed so there is no need to combine with Fn or shift. But if it is printed in blue or orange (your Fn key should be in blue or orange also) that is the time you need a key combination.

Black screen

1) Which software did you remove?
2) Is the machine running, but you just cannot see anything, or is it totally dead? Any sounds, humming, drives turning, lights flashing?

If it is not dead, try plugging in an external screen. To get the screen to work, you may have to press Fn5 I think (has a picture of two screens on the key). If the signal goes to the external screen, try pressing a couple of times more and see if it cycles back to the laptop's own screen. If the screen does not wake up, but the external one works, your screen needs looking at. If under warranty, take it back, otherwise it will be up to you to decide whether to spend on fixing it or splurging on a new one. You could of course just turn the laptop into a deskbound machine using the external screen, and spend the money on something else.
