I always am able to fix this issue on the HP Officejet 8600 and all similar models by cleaning the rollers. I'm attaching the video below for instructions:
I am not sure: however, I believe that it is one of the settings requirement to select the proper paper, or it will not work. Go to printer Preferences/Paper Quality tab/select the type of photo paper that best matches the paper you are using.
In order to print on transparency film from a HP8600 all you have to do is load the paper rough side down with the white border going into the tray toward the back of the printer so that you can not see it when you look into the paper tray. The HP 8600 will auto-adjust for the film, that is why you do not have the option to select transparency like you did in the HP 8500
Hi This is a coomon problem with the printer the best thing to do is call HP and advise them of the issue. I recently had a customer who did this and even know it was out of warranty they replaced the printer.
