SOURCE: Frozen mouse pointer

Start the system i safe mode (F8 right after power up). If there are no problems in safe mode the problem is a running program. Do a virus and spyware scan.

SOURCE: acer 4720z mousepad not working

You may have a function key that can enable/disable it or a setting in the control panel > mouse > pointing devices. Or possibly a BIOS setting to enable/disable.

You may be a victim of spyware/maleware infections. You will need to have your system cleaned. This should help resolve your issue.

I would recommend trying CCleaner first to see if this helps you. Please keep in mind this will not rid your system of everything just keep you a float and offer you a fighting chance.

Please keep me posted and updated on your issue. I am here for you and will see your issues out till resolved.

Freezing or Jumping Mouse Pointer

This could happen if the PS/2 connector on the motherboard is defective, or if there is a failing component in the PS/2 circuitry on the motherboard.
Could also be due to loose solder points at the PS/2 connector.
This needs to be checked by a qualified technician.

Mouse cursor moving by itself

In windows xp go into start menu, then into control panel then click on appearance and themes, then move your mouse over to mouse pointers click on it , uncheck "enhance pointer precision, and click apply, that will stop the mouse from acting crazy, this will work with dell mouse pointers and most.
