Unable to use printer over network with Server 2003 64Bit

I have a Windows Server 2003 SP2 64bit machine with the magicolor 2430DL connected via a USB port.

I have installed the latest 64bit driver for this operating system and printer.

I have upgraded the firmware to the current software.

When I try to add additional drivers on the server either from the original disk (32bit software) or the latest driver from the web for Windows XP 32bit, a dialogue is displayed saying the driver should be installed remotely.

When I add the printer on a client, using a network printer, and then activate the printer properties I get an error "Function address 0x49a2290 caused a protection fault.

After I click OK, I get an error "The 'KONICA MINOLTA magicolor 2430DL' printer driver is not installed on this computer." Do you want to install the driver now?

NOTE the client does function OK when the printer is attached to a local USB but I want the printer to be on the server.

If I say YES to install the driver and go ahead to install the driver the successful install dialogue appears BUT on continuing I then get the same function address error.

If I then try a test print I get a "Window Explorer had encountered a problem and needs to close." error.

Probably the best and easiest solution for your problem would be to buy an EDIMAX USB-Ethernet print server, or something equivalent. I have several of these running on the network at work. They're easy to setup and they work great.

Wireless Dell laptop can't 'find' HPDeskjet 5150 Printer

this printer is (as per HP specs) only connected via USB or Wlan Print server.
Check connection using USB cable and be sure Printer driver are correctly working.
Check on Router your Print server IP address (Lock it out of DHCP)
Put both PRT and PC on same home network (normally HOME or MSWORK)
Put Printer server IP address into your printer properties/port tab/ IP.
OR check if you see your printer server in your Windows network/home network

I have a new Compaq laptop running Vista home and an old samsung 4216f. I tried a parallel to usb and cannot get the printer to work. No parallel ports on laptop and no usb on printer. Any ideas?

If you have a home network, try a Print Server with parallel port. You will connect the printer to the print server via parallel, and the print server to a network hub/switch/router (any of the listed) via a network cable, and the computer to the hub/switch/router via network cable or wireless.

Cost should be around $20 - $60 depending on make/model.

Open the top cover. Remove the drum (part with long green handle). Below the drum you will see a strip of glass about 4-5 inches long. Take a cloth and wipe across the glass.

This will normally clear up any white lines in your print.

Unable to print through the print server

First, make sure that you can print with the printer connected directly to your computer using a usb cable.

- Make sure the printer driver is installed and you can print with a direct connection
- Get the print server's IP Address, NetGear should have already provided you with this info.
- If your'e using windows xp, go to control panel > printers and faxes
- Right click on the printer icon and go to properties
- Click on the PORTS tab
- Click on ADD PORT
- Highlight Standard TCP/IP Port then click on New Port
- Click next
- Input the WGPS606 IP Address
- Print a test page...

-hope it works!!
