Use to work and now it doesn't
Not knowing how old the unit is hampers me a bit. But, if I were in your position and the TV is no longer covered by warranty, I would just get a universal remote that will work with your TV. Most universal remotes will replace your remote and all of the old one's functions. Most places where you can purchase universals will let you check as to whether or not it will work with your make and model TV.
You can also try to get a replacement remote from the TV maker but those can be expensive when compared to universals. But at the same time, you will be sure that you can have a remote that has all functions.
