The blue blob is in the bottom right corner and the wee blue specks on the screen are getting increasingly worse.
Only 4yrs old but outside of guarantee have spoken to someone else with the same problem and Sony fixed his. warranty had expired but consumer guarantees act was still valid. Could this be a faulty LCD panel. I would be grateful of any advice.
Thanks
Wayne

your unit needs the optical engine cleaned(the lcd panels). This should cost about 300 at a local tv shop

Hello, inside the set there is an optical unit with 3LCD panels. Somehow the dust particles came into your set and now the dust is all over the optical unit and 3LCD panels. Only way to solve this issue is to clean the dust. Please contact your Sony dealer. Best regards, Arpi

Hi Guys
The Blue dots or discolouration you are seeing is due too the Blue LCD screen having cracked from excessive heat. This normally happens when you have a power failure while the Television was on. This obviously because the Blue LCD sits next to the lamp - the main cause of heat. The correct part number on the 60" is A-1086-952-A. It is very, very ,expensive.
Sorry to have been the bearer of bad news. Good luck : )

It is definitely a bad optical block. Sony was offering an optical block replacement under warranty until June of this year, but it has ended now. Ballpark estimate is $700 to $1000 to have the optical block replaced.
