Unfortunately apple trees are as prone to virus as any other tree and some specific to apple trees alone. If you do a websearch on something like wikipedia it will probably list a few. Its useful to know the apple variety and also description of what you think is a virus before deciding to try and treat it or cut it down and burn it. If new growth they will look that way naturally. If the whole tree,is prematurely coloring then it is probably strangulated. If an older tree 6 + years old then other problems like grubs eating the roots could be an issue.
