I have a Hitachi Ultravision TV, model #50UX58B. It flickers. How do I fix it?

It flickers, started doing it a while back. It takes some tapping on the side for it to work. We've even tried leaving on after we stop watching it, turning off the cable box, and turning it back on when we want to watch it, but it doesn't work either. What's wrong and how do I fix it?

Check IC601, C603 for leakage, I601 and vertical pulse detector QN05

for poor convergence check RK42 for open circuit.

SOURCE: Hitachi Ultravision Projection Tv problem

Hitachi TV also Model # 46UX7K, Serial # W1H002013. I was hoping I can get help with this one too. The picture is dark and has lost most of it's color. I don't know if the color is off because it is so dark. Is there parts that I can buy from you to fix this problem.

SOURCE: 50 INCH HITACHI ULTRAVISION HAS COLOR DIFFERENCE ON EDGE OF SCREEN

Hey, I found this on a blogsite about lcd rear projections....looks like our tv's screens have been burned by the "pillers" that surround the tv when switching from 4:3 to 16:9 or fullscreen... read below, I hope it helps !
cheers!
Vern

Rear projection crt's,the first generation widescreen tv's were notorious for that.Lcd and plasma can have the same problem, but it takes much longer and is not as harsh.Dlp's use tiny mirrors,so it isn't a problem with them.Lcd and plasma tv's should be ok unless you watch them with blck bars on them all the time.
We have lcd monitors at work, and i've seen them after a year with bad burn in.They also run 24 hrs a day 7 days a week with the same display.

GKar posted 2006 Oct 10 15:31 TooLFooL : i have 51" sony rear-projection and those freakin' grey bars burned themselves right into the screen...

I read that to avoid the burning you had to limit your 4:3 viewing time to 15% of total time viewed. (applied to my TV but apparently yours and others as well...great! now they tell you :-x , this applies unless 4:3 aspect was changed to stretched or zoomed...yuck :-x )

This really sucks as a Star Trek/Lexx/Farscape fan as they are mostly 4:3, fortunately the upconvert player/hdmi combo sends a 1080i 16:9 signal to my TV so the effects are drastically reduced by nearly filling the TV without the grey bars or burn in problem without stretch or zoom modes being used. yay! (default grey bars set to black automatically, apparently grey isn't needed due to screen area covered is sufficient for burn in not to be a problem.)

How do I fix My 50 inch Hitachi Ultravision TV?

Likely the lamp in the set has failed here which does make sense if the picture was dim before---a lot of lamps just before failing all the way dim down.

Will not turn on and not sure why

There's a chance that when the Tv doesn't turn on, it might be because the power supply might be defective, but for a more exact info i'm missing more details, discountdashmerchantdotcom, try it they'll troubleshoot you for free and you'll see what's the issue with the tv

Hitachi Ultravision 46UX50B Flickering/Dead Display

It is possible that you have some loose connections, but I have seen the relays in the power supply get to be intermitent and will not stay closed. Tapping lightly on the relays will usually tell whether or not they are bad.

Will not turn on

I had this same problem. Apparently it's fairly common with these older Hitachi Ultravision TVs. There is a bad fuse and capacitor. If you are willing to do some soldering it can be fixed at home. I bought a kit and instructions from TVRepairKits.com for about $30. Although I haven't worked on electronics since jr high school electric shop, it powered up as soon as I replaced the bad parts. Not very difficult, although the circuit board accumulated an amazing amount of dust in its 10+ years of use.

Hitachi tv model 50ux58b starts to come then goes off

If you have Hitachi model number 50UX58B, 60UX58B, 50UX58K, 60UX58K, 50SBX78B or 60SBX78B and you have the following symptoms you may want to grab a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kit that includes the parts and instructions to fix these models. This is a fairly common problem with the above model numbers. It is typically caused by a blown capacitor and pico fuse. Again, you can get a kit from the above address.

Here are the symptoms...

Primary Symptom: No Audio or Video. Power light will come on briefly then shut off.
Other Possible Symptoms : The green LEDs on the circuit board light up for a few seconds then turn off.

Hope this helps,

TV Flickers up and down and screen is shifted to the right w/ red color dominating the screen.

Hi
The most likely problem is the auto focus module.
A costly repair.
If you are going to fix it ask for a rebuilt one.
