How do I stop the door lock from flashing on my self cleaning oven

From what you have described your Frigidaire oven lock is stuck open and you are receiving error codes "F9" and "DR". The "F9" error code stands for runaway temperature (overheating). This could be an issue with your RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector) or the EOC (Electronic Oven Control). I would recommend performing a reset on your oven and you can do that by disconnecting from your oven for ten minutes. The "DR" code means that the door is not closed or the door latch is not recognizing the door is closed. This could be an issue with your door latch or control panel. If you have a self cleaning oven, the door will lock automatically as the self cleaning begins. Give it some time ,it will happen. When cleaning is done it will take a while for the door to unlock. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

I understand that your Frigidaire range is not allowing you to cancel and you are unable to use the oven. I would suggest holding down the "Cancel/Clear" button for ten seconds and that should cancel the self-cleaning. If that does not work I would recommend a reset on your range, you can do that by flipping off the household circuit breaker for ten minutes. I hope this has been helpful. -Matt

Could be the lock needs replacing the oven won't self clean if the door lock isn't functioning it's a safety thing so you don't get your face burnt .

The F9 code indicates a problem with the door lock. (Since the oven must lock the door for a cleaning cycle, this will be a "fatal" error for the cleaning cycle.) There are a few possibilities. Open the oven door and look for a L-shaped piece of metal on the top of the oven frame. Check that this lock part is angled to go straight up (12 on an analog clock). If it is rotated slightly, it won't fit properly during the lock cycle.

Clean the latch and wiggle it to check if it will move freely. If these steps don't fix the problem, you need to check the door latch motor and switches. You will need to take off the back panel of the oven to find the motor. Check for loose wires or damaged/loose switches.

If the motor assembly and switches are good, then the central control (clock) probably needs to be replaced.

Thanks for using FixYa. The locking of the oven is a safety measure while self clean function is activated. Once the oven has completed the cycle & has cooled down, then it will reset the door lock.

If a self clean oven door lock fails to open after the self clean cycle and sufficient cooling time has elapsed (approximately 1 hour), there are several things you can try.

1. Unplug the unit or shut off the circuit breaker for 5 minutes. Plug the unit back in or turn on the circuit breaker. Set the clock and gently try moving the door lock lever (is so equipped) or opening the door.
2. Set the self-clean cycle again and only allow it to work for 15 minutes. Cancel the self-clean cycle and allow the oven to cool. Gently try moving the door lock lever (is so equipped) or opening the door.

If these procedures fail to correct the condition or you were not using the self clean cycle, then, the lock must usually be accessed and moved manually to open the door—

In order to open the door you have to open the control panel and remove the door lock.

Remove the three screws from the bottom of the control panel. You'll heed a 1/4" open wrench. Pull the bottom of the control panel toward yourself and push it up to release from the upper tabs.
The door lock is secured by the three screws.

If the motorized and heat sensitive locks fails to open after the self clean cycle, you must access the lock and move it yourself to open the door. On the free standing ranges, most times you must lift the cook top to access the lock mechanism. On built in ovens, the oven must be pulled out to remove the top access panel to get at the lock mechanism. Some build in ovens can have the control console removed to access the lock system. On the heat sensitive style of lock, there are no electrical parts to operate the lock, usually you will need to replace the lock. On the motorized style of lock, you will have to use a ohm/volt meter to test why the motor will not work. On the solenoid style of lock, the solenoid is often mounted on the back of the range and can be accessed by removing the rear panel, some may be mounted at the front, such as in a built in oven. The failure of the solenoid style of lock is normally caused by a bad lock solenoid. In order to get your door open, you must operate the door latch mechanism manually. In this case you may need to manually press that door switch with your finger while at the same time canceling the clean cycle to get the latch to retract so the door can close fully again.

You can't. The locks are designed for use when the range is NOT in operation. Teach your child to stay away from the range. Even the new GE ranges with the swing latch, if you use them while the oven is in use, the oven locks until it cools down. Sorry to be blunt, a safety gate to keep baby out of the kitchen will be a good fix.

the door lock motor assly could be bad.during self cleaning process the motor runs and locks the door and activates a switch .the control reads the swithch.if motor does not tunrn the door is not closed and it does not activate the switch.at the maximum it could be the control itself gone bad and able to read the switch.but that is less likely.
