I accidentally dropped my m-audio fasttrack pro and one of the gain levels got bended. I want to open the case to be able to see if I can put it back in it right position. I out-screwed the 6 screws in the button, however its still difficult to take the covering off. Am I missing something or should I use a little force (I really don't think that might be the answer)

A Gain Problems

Your fader seems to be dirty.
Spray in some WD-40 or such (according where you live).
Do NOT use "contact cleaner" spray ! That will dry up the carbon tracks.
Peace

NUMARK DM1002X HOW DO I USE THE CONTROLS AND WHAT EFFECTS DO THEY HAVE , ESPECIALY THE GAIN. THERE SEEMS TO BE A NOISE WHEN RECORDING

In a few words I can clarify that the gain controls are affecting the volume of the corresponding input, so that you can set the slider at the proper level. In other words you use the gain controls in order to increase or decrease the audio level of the input so that the differences at the audio level from the sources (different recording levels, different cd players etc) will be eliminated.
In case you'd like the full user manual you can follow this official link. Click on your model and at the new window make out your name and your e-mail at the form and you will get the user manual.

I get a high pitched noise when in pro tools

I don't know what devices are connected to your audio input ports, sounds like gain is too high on a microphone or guitar or speaker setting too close to your work station, sound like feedback loop.

No sound , sound drivers are working

Most common reasons for this trouble are:
  • Such kind of troubles arise after some device / software is installed which tries to gain control as default sound device.
  • Also while un-installation of certain softwares, some shared files are removed. At times some important shared file can be deleted which causes troubles with working of sound drivers.
  • While installing certain games, it tries to gain control of sound or video drivers and may accidentally harm these driver softwares.
Lets see the ways to fix such troubles

Step1 : First of all check what is your default audio device setting. For this, open Control Panel > Sounds and audio devices, open Audio tab as shown in picture below.
774a71c.jpg
See that the Device selected is your sound-card or on-board audio device. It should not be blank or some modem device. Set the Default sound playback and sound recording device correctly from the drop down menu. If your device is not there in this list see the step 2.

Step2: If the step 1 is not successful, it means that your sound device driver software has become either corrupt or has been accidentally un-installed. In such case, install the sound driver from the sound-card/mother-board driver CD. You can also download the latest driver if you don’t have the driver CD. After you install the driver, restart your computer, and then check the settings as in step 1 again

Connecting an M Audio Fast Track USB to a Behringer XENYX 1002

I suppose that you connect the behringer mixer master out (just one of the two channels in case of two) to the guitar input of the Fast Track. Have you tried to hear your mic from the phones output at the front panel of the Fast Track? Try changing the guitar gain and the output level at the top of the Fast track.

I'm waiting for your results or clarification, please post.

Taking recordings from mixing desk

As the Fastrack can only receive one audio signal at a time you would have to record each track seperatly into Pro Tools.

I'm guessing your mixer is a multitrack recorder.

Solo track 1 on the multitracker and playback from there into the Fastrack, with track 1 on Pro Tools set to record. Repeat this for each or your tracks on the multitracker.

When you've finished you'll need to align all the tracks in Pro Tools so they all playback in time with each other.

Low record level for guitar

first of all you want to have your guitar amp at a decent volume but too loud, just enough to be able to get a good signal. when you have done this turn up the gain on your mic channel so that your VU meter (level meter) on the recording software shows a reading of about half way up the meter. If you can not achieve this with the soundcard alone increase the gain on your channel in the software.

This sound guarantee a good signal but as with most recordings you will still have to boost the signal without it peaking. to do this use a compressor or a limiter and turn the gain up. if you use these dynamic effects correctly you will achieve the guitar level you want.

Help me

Hi Beth,

You need to take it apart, and get  everything back in its place.

REmove  8 or 10 Screw covers on bottom of your PS2.  open the case carefully, so as not to pull a cable loose from the motherboard. The Cd player cover needs to be removed to get your CD out. Remove 2 or 4 screws to gain access.  You could actually do this in less than 30 minutes. Go for it Beth
