I cannot get front composite video jacks to work. I want to capture video from VCR using Pinnacle.

  • larryfish Jul 05, 2009

I am trying to use Pinnacle Studio and the input on my PC (picture link is below) to capture video from a VHS source. Apparently, I was supposed to have ATI Capture software installed to do this. I do not have it, gateway is giving me a broken link, and the ATI site is no help. When I try to use Pinnacle it says "no video signal detected - check cables" ( i did)

    Picture link is below.

You don't need ATI capture anything. Pinnacle Studio does that. Make sure your composite input is not disabled on your PC. Make sure Pinnacle is setup to capture from that card/device. Make sure your video device is outputting to the composite.

I have a pinnacle moviebox 510-usb. The specification contains, you can streaming from analog secam source, but in importer section i can't see any video after switched secam mode, while the vcr play...

Be sure that your MovieBox capture device is selected under Studio's "Setup/Capture Source" selection (assuming you're capturing analog). If the MovieBox doesn't show up in that selection window, there could be a problem with the device.

Additionally, check in the Diskometer left-hand panel (this is found at the center of the bottom of the screen) and see that the correct input port value (either composite or s-video) is selected.

If you're capturing digital, then you'll have to use a Firewire connection to the MovieBox device.

Hope that's helpful.

VHS Recording

If it came with the Pinnacle software (Pinnacle Studio), that's what you have to use to move your movies from VHS to your PC.

I need a picture of how to hook up the dazzle to the vcr

If your trying to capture from a vcr make sure that the cables "composite are connected at the back make sure it is plug in to the video out.

Next, connect the cables directly to the dazzle.

make sure that the vcr is on and it is playing.

In the program Instant DVD Recorder please go to the step 1 select the dazzle as your video source not pinnacle file capture.

Then click option check the VHS input.
Video input must be composite if your using the composite
Audio input must be the dazzle.

Computer not recognising VCR- what plug should i use?

You need a TV tuner card to be able to read both audio-video signal, else how are you going to covert analog to digital. The VCR gives out analog output.

Diamond One-touch video capture audio doesn't work with s-video

i had the same problem.  it turns out the s-video does not carry audio so you have to hook up a separate audio line.  On my camera there is a mini plug a/v jack...so i run a mini plug out to a rca jack splitter and then run rca cords to the red and white jacks on the one touch....then it works great.

in the Selected capture menu, toggle back and forth between Pinnacle file capture and dazzle to see if you can trick it into working for you. Also on vcr, toggle between tv and vcr to see that will help.
