Do you mean you bought one of those cheap cables that claims to convert HDMI digital in to analogue with nothing more than a bit of wire? If so, that's your problem. They're a rip off because they don't work.

Post another question and include a link to the make and model of the cable you're using and the TV.

Hdmi instructions

Hi Kelly,
I believe the Sony Trinitron WEGAs do not have an HDMI connection on the back of the TV. If they do it would be labeled as HDMI input below that familiar looking HDMI narrow horizontal connector. But I believe what you have is the RGB connector which looks like three round female connectors which are color coated Red Green and Blue. Now these RGB connectors are a form of high definition but it's not a direct connect for for your HDMI DVD player or your XBOX 360 or what ever you want to hook the TV up to.
You'll have to convert you HDMI to RGB. you can still purchase DVD players with RGB outputs but if you already have a device that requires a TV with HDMI, you can buy a converter. Go to RadioShack or BestBuy or search online for a HDMI to RGB converter cable . It should look something like the picture below.
RED GREEN AND BLUE for video. And then the white and red connectors that are banded together are for your audio.
Good Luck

How to connect laptop to flat screen TV

You can use a VGA cable to connect to your flat screen. Then select the RGB input your tv and it should work. If your computer is new and high end enough it may have HDMI out and then I would use an HDMI cable.

How can I connect my laptop to my LCD TV through HDMI cable (brand:LG) (model:LF15 series) HD ready?

You'll need to make sure that your laptop & LCD TV have an HDMI port. If they both do, simply connect an HDMI cable from your laptop to your LCD TV and make sure the input on the LCD TV is set to receive A/V from the HDMI port.

Make sure your DVD player has HDMI or Component RGB output, you will also need RGB component cables or HDMI cables to connect the DVD player to your Vizio, once you have attached one of the above cables you will need to press the input button on your TV'S remote to select either HDMI or Component.

How to turn on rgb from lap top to tv.

In order to connect your laptop to your TV using RGB, you need an RGB adapter. RGB is also known as component video; it breaks up a video signal into red, green and blue. laptops do not have RGB outputs. However, many laptops have VGA, DVI or HDMI outputs. An RGB adapter connects the single VGA, DVI, or HDMI cable to an RGB cable, which is actually three different cables tied together. INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Connect either the VGA, DVI or HDMI (in the order of increasing video quality) cable to the VGA, DVI or HDMI port on your laptop, depending on what is available. 2. Connect the other end of the cable to the side of the RGB adapter with the single input. 3. Connect the RGB cables to the red, green and blue ports on the other side of the RGB adapter. 4. Connect the other end of the RGB cables to an available component input on the back of the TV. 5. Tune the TV to the component video input you used through your television's menu. 6. Turn on your laptop. The laptop should now display on your TV screen.

How do i connect my directv box to my soyo tv #DYLT032D

  • If your DirecTV box supports HDTV then connect it using either an HDMI cable from the box to the TV (located on the back, labeled HDMI 1,2,3,etc.).
  • If the box is not an HDTV box then connect it with a RGB (red, green, blue) composite cable from the box to the TV.
  • If the RGB output is not on the ack of the box then connect using a standard coaxial cable.

[NOTE] In order for the quality of the picture to be HD, use the RGB for digital (Better), or the HDMI for High-def (Best)

Connection to TV by HDMI cable

The 625 is not a high definition receiver and therefore does not support hdmi. You can use RGB or S-video to provide a higher quality picture than the coax output. If you need more options let me know. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

DVR/TV connection

With the RGB you have to run seperate audio ,I think you have ran the seperate cables for the sound but they are in the wrong place.try changing the RW from the DVR to the TV and you should get sound from them. The unfortunate truth about the HDMI is that the HDMI format has a problem effectivly communicating between components.I am a Directv certified High Definition technition and %50 of the TV's that I connect the HDMI to will not receive the signal. One trick that I have found that works is to make sure you have a picture on the RGB then connect the HDMI.Once you have these connected ,turn your TV off and unplug the power cord from the DVR for 30 sec then plug the DVR in and wait 5 minutes for it to power up then turn your TV on and switch to your HDMI input. This method sometimes works to "Jumpstart" the HDMI input on the TV .There is no guarantee that this will work but is sounds like for now this is your only option,GOOD LUCK.
