The manual for the compressor will tell you how. If you do not have the manual try here:

SOURCE: Will not build up pressure

If this compressor is dry type with no oil needed, then it may have a worn cylinder and/or piston ring. With flashlight in hand, look under cylinder with piston in upper most position. If you see scratches most likely it needs cylinder / piston kit. Not to worry, not too expensive. If you compressor has a crankcase with oil, then you may have problems with valves in the head. Cracked or dirt under headvalves will prevent pressure from building. Finally there may be one or several leaks in the tubing, check leaks with soapy water. enjoy

SOURCE: Leaks air at the pressure switch

start your compressor and let it buid up pressure to turn off. then unplug from power.lossen the fill tube that goes from the pump to the tank. when you loosen it. if it leaks air then your check valve is bad and will have to be replaced.

SOURCE: craftsman aircompressor bogging down

Yes , the check valve will cause this. The check valve has a flat disk with a spring that holds it down that the air passing past it erodes away till it leaks then the air that the piston pushes into the tank does not stay in the tank but returns right back into the cylinder and puts a load on the piston. Also makes the compressor hard to start back up if it does get pumped up. Some have a dump valve that drains the pressure off the head after they shut off so it can start with no load. So if there is air bleading back and leaking at the pressure swith that will be a for sure sign it is the check valve.

Probably the check valve has failed. It apparently is where the pipe goes into the tank from the compressor.

Craftsman air compressor will not shut off

w/o other details, one can only presume that the tank pressure switch has be adjusted to high or it has failed/broke. Adjust pressure downward (if not already). Replace tank switch.

I have a Craftsman 2-gallon 1.5 HP air compressor, Model No 921.152100. The last time I used it it worked great. I just tried to use it and it doesn't work. I checked the connections and found the pressure...

Is there pressure in the tank already? The reset is usually on the end of the motor.
The pressure switch, a diaphragm pushes against an adjustable tension spring. Less spring tension cuts the motor out at lower pressure, more tension at a higher pressure. Has this adjustment been used? It may have a second adjustment, either nut or screw, that adjusts the pressure differential between cut in and cut out.

25 gal horizontal craftsman air compressor is leaking at the pressure control valve. Can I replace the valve or repair it?

Unloader valve probably needs to be adjusted. Should be two jam nuts holding the unloader to the pressure switch. Loosen the jam nuts and adjust the unloader slightly away from the lever. Tighten the jam nuts and try it again.

hi there, if the compressor built up a 20 psig and run at 1.5 hrs.then stop.check the pressure switch the differential pressure cut in and cut out limit.adjust the cut out to the corresponding cut out pressure you want but not exceed to the designed pressure tank..this will be done on adjusting cut out pressure screw mounted inside the pressure switch.follow the instruction on the manuals adjusting pressure switch.the run time correspond to the cut out limit of the pressure switch. rate my fix if your satisfied thank a lot.

I have a craftsman compressor model 919.162120. Started out when the compressor got to desired pressure it would cut off and come on in a couple of second intervals. Now it wont get above 40 psi and does...

The pressure switch is out of adjustment. You can remove the over and adjust it to get the desired control. Just turn the nut a little at a time and watch the effect it has. Turning clockwise (CW) will raise the cutoff pressure.

I have a electric air compressor craftsman 3.5hp 15 gallon it wont start back up when air is low

The pressure switch controls the cut-in and cut-out points for the motor. Some switches have a differential adjustment besides the pressure adjustment. The differential controls the spread between cut-in & cut-out, (say in at 80 PSI, out at100 PSI)

Try looking for these if you didn't get a manual.

Good luck
