SOURCE: How can I unclog plumbing in whirlpool tub used to clean dogs?

Depending on how mechanically inclined you are, take apart the tub and clean everything out. No easy task, I know, but who want old dog hair floating around? That will be your best bet.

Lost half of my jets on one side of the tub only.I have tried closing the jets that do work half, does not make a difference to the jets not working.Would it be best to empty the tub and start over?

it's likely due to an air lock. Here's what you can do to resolve this issue:

Manually Clearing an Airlock:
Run the jets on low for about 30 seconds.
Then run the jets on high for another 30 seconds.
Repeat this process 3 or 4 times.
If you hear a gurgling sound and see air bubbling up, continue running your hot tub until it pushes all the air out.
If this doesn't work after several attempts, try a different approach.
Bleeder Valves or Pump Method:
Some spas have bleeder valves that allow you to bleed air out of the lines.
First, turn off the spa at the breaker.
Access the pump and loosen the valve to allow the air to escape.
When the air has bled out (you'll notice it turns from hissing air to a stream of water), close the valve.
Run the pump to ensure the jets are now pumping water as expected.
Why Are the Jets Not Working on One Side Only?:
Many hot tubs have two water pumps.
If the jets on only one side of your hot tub stop working, there could be an airlock in only one of the pumps.
It could also be a blockage in the jet lines for that side or a problem with the internal mechanism of the jet itself.
Can You Use a Spa with an Airlock?:
It is not recommended to use a hot tub with an airlock.

Air Switch Repair
It sounds like you have a bad air switch located in your motor.
The air switch is what the air hose connects to on the back of the motor or on the box on top of the motor. The other end of the air hose is connected to the air button on the lip of the tub.
This is a latching air switch and when you push the air button it latches to send power to the motor. When the air button is pushed again it opens the latch in the air switch and stops power going to the motor shutting it off.

I have an Aqua Glass whirlpool tub, and the jets no longer work. When I hit the on/off button, it just makes a clicking sound. Do I need a new pump? If so, what type do I buy?

Jets will not come on after filling and pushing on switch

There are several things to check.
the first and most likely is that you have a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) that is tripped.

It is required by code to have any whirlpool tub, spa, or similar equipment GFCI protected. on a whirlpool tub, a good electrician will place the GFCI device within sight of the tub, in the bathroom. it looks like the same GFCI receptacles you have on the countertop, but without holes to plug things in. a lesser electrician will place a GFCI receptacle inside the service access underneath the tub. (this can be a hatch in the side of the tub, or a cabinet door in on a wall adjoining the room) a bad electrician has been known to place it in a completely different room, or under the floor, with the power cord of the tub passed through the a hole in the floor to plug in. find this, and press the reset button. if it solves your problem, great. if not, go to step 2 (also, occasionally, the GFCI device is a GFCI breaker inside the breaker panel - check to make sure the breaker is turned on and not tripped, as well)

If you reset the GFCI and it immediately trips again, there may be a problem with the pump motor. find the access hatch (if you haven't already) and unplug the tub. try the reset again. if it holds now, it is the pump. if not, it is either a failed GFCI (have it replaced) or a ground wire in contact with a neutral wire. (fixed by moving the ground)

if the GFCI resets, or will not reset (newer GFCIs have an interlock feature that prevents them from resetting if they don't like the flavor of the incoming power) and there is still no power to the pump (use a plug tester, or plug a lamp, or radio in to test and make sure there is power to the spa tub), and you have confirmed that the breaker is on, there may be a switch that is off, (the same electrician who put the GFCI device in a walk-in closet across the hall, also had a switch that turned the whole thing off) or there may be a wiring problem somewhere. at this point, it might be worth your while to bring in an electrician to trace down the problem. - you would have to check each point in the circuit to find where there is a wire disconnected or broken.

If there is no problem with the electricity to the tub, then you have either a switch problem or a motor problem. the motor problem is unlikely, as it usually results in electrical symptoms, as well. the switch is an air switch. the button on the tub is an air plunger, that pumps air into a tube, and pushes another plunger in the switch that turns the pump on and off. the plunger can stop pushing air (unlikely, but possible) the tube can come loose, or the switch can stop working. the first two are easily user-repairable. the last may take an authorized service professional, depending on the design of the pump.

If you have acces to the pump and switch please let me know I will walk you through what to look at there to fix if the plug is good.

good luck with this - hopefully it is just a GFCI.

Our "whirlpool" tub jets do

sounds like it may be either the air button or the air switch (on motor).
pull the pump and plug into an outlet. take a straw and blow into the air switch where the air tubing was connected. If the pump comes on then you know the button. If the pump doesn't come on then you will need to replace the air switch on the back of the motor.

I have a whirlpool bath in my master bath in my mobile home, years ago my grandson pushed the button to activate the jets without water in the tub, it hasn't worked since, yesterday I had a friend who is...

the air switch should be connected to a switch by the motor the air switch is ur on off and should run from the button to another switch by motor the air switches were put in so there was not live wiring by the tub surface ,the the tub button/switch is like a bellows and pushes air into tube to turn switch on/off

We have water in the button to turn the jets on so now they won't work. How do we get the water out?

The button is likely an "air switch" which uses a push button to send a puff of air down a tube to activate the switch at the other end. Since 99.9% of jetted tub makers no longer can use an electrical switch mounted at the surface of the tub, due to the possibility of contact with water (shock hazard).

The best way to clear the tube of any water is to remove the access panel (if you have one) on the tub, otherwise, you'll have to gain access from an adjoining room via a wall, etc. You can try to suction the wate from the tube, if you can remove the push button from the tub. I would try using a turkey baster or eye dropper to extract the water from the tube, but as I stated, the best way is to gain access to the inside of the tub components and remove the switch tube that way. It is possible that the push bulb switch has become disconnected from the actual switch mechanism and you'll need to reattach it anyway.

Check your owners manual to see where the switch is located, in case you need to get at the controls via cutting through an adjoining wall. This is why the manufacturer's all say these types of tubs should always be installed to allow access to the inside components for servicing, in case repairs are needed. Just an FYI, it is easier to repair and replace a small piece of drywall 16" by 16" than to have to repair tile work, etc. Of course, it all depends on what you're good at!

You might also want to contact Kohler to talk with one of their customer service people and see what they recommend you try. 1-800-456-4537
