U have used Qsee, Swann and Lorex. I have a PTZ that has worked on several systems. There is a set-up for the actual PTZ camera which you appear to be aware of. The App or program you are using has a set up for a PTZ along with on screen controls for it in the program. If the DVR you are using is not PTZ ready there is your answer. Should have a 2 wire acceptors one negative one positive.
The movement you are seeing initially, are the PTZ powering up and self testing. What brand DVR are you using, and is is compatible with your PTZ camera?? LOL Swann Tech Service said my Lorex PTZ wouldn't work with my new hi-res system. Well it does...
I will try to look for your reply to continue to troubleshoot for you.

There should be a paper clip size hole somewhere on the back of the unit. If you depress the button in there it should be the reset. The problems sounds to me more of a hard drive issue though.
Have you tried the dipswitch located by the UTP output? You should switch 3 & 4 to off if the signal needs to loop to other devices and switch them to on if this is the only device on the data signal bus or the last in a chain of devices on the bus. dipswitches 1 & 2 aren't used.
Hi!
Zoom ability is implemented in iOS4.
You have iphone 2G, so there is no official way, you can have iOS 4 on your device.
And I do not recommend to use iOS4 on 2G/3G devices, because hardware of these devices is too slow.
But you can try search AppStore for some camera apps, there should be zoom ability.
Hope it Helps.
the iphone 3g does not have a built in zoom funtion you need to download an app that will allow you to zoom the one i use is camera zoom but its 99c there are soem free ones as well. this is yhour solution so please rate if this helped!
