I just bought a Juki DDL-8700 industrial sewing machine. It is set up on a quilting table. If I sew straight it's fine but when I try to do a curve or a sharp turn it starts skipping stitches.
Set up on quilting table? wheres the oil pan?? if your machine sews fine straight and skips on curves i think you are lifting the presser ft as you make the turn. theres nothing wrong with the machine. you could always change the needle which is always the first thing when you encounter a sewing problem.

go to www.juki.com.jp login industrial sewing machine and you can doenload manual for juki machine
SOURCE: skip stitch
The three most obvious causes (other than that of the machine possibly being slightly out of time) are:
1) Too small of a needle size - increase the size.
2) A needle that has a flaw / defect - change the needle.
3) Needle not inserted correctly, either not pushed all the way up into the needle bar, or not installed facing the correct place. On this machine, the small "scarf" in the needle (an indent just above the eye) shouldface the right side of the machine.

upper tension sets the lower thread tension (upper thread is what you see on the underside of the fabric). Bobbin tension is for the thread you see on the top of the fabric
