I just brought a Sharp Aquos LC-52D64U T.V. I hooked it up to the Hi Def DVR from Cox Communications and I am having a little difficulty with the audio. The sound is fine, but intermittently, the sound will skip for a second or short time. This occurs with normal T.V. viewing and also with recording. I received a Sony progressive DVD with the purchase and I have hooked up the HDMI cables. It is running beautifully, with sound and picuture, otherwise.
Just talked to a fellow at Audiotronics regarding Sharp Aquos.
This is a widespread problem with audio on their TV's, The tech. said there may be a full recall regarding this problem!!!
The sound went off on my Sharp Aquos, it comes back and then goes away again. After looking for answers on the web the repeated recommendations were to get new parts that were very expensive and did not guarantee a solution. What i ended up doing was, buying an adaptor that converts a 3.5mm jack to a RCA jack, and used it with my spare computer speakers. It works great and the solution was very inexpensive($11.00). The so called experts at the big box stores will try to lure you to buy a surround system by telling u that the tv is not strong enough to give them a good sound, but it's all BS, so dont fall for it, plus it's very expensive.
I called sharp technicians because the audio on my 2 year old sharp aquos lcd tv all of sudden turns off after just being on for 15 minutes. they told me to unplug the unit for 1 hour and then replug and turn on and that should reset the tv's audio. anyway, i did and that didn't work it still turned off. i called them back and they said because it was not under warranty and no one had made the same complaint to cause a recall they would not cover the service. anyway, next time i will buy sony :(
No sound on 2 tv stations on a sharp tv.
Help!!!! I've had an aquos TV for 2 years also, all of sudden the audio went kapoot!! Did the whole system reset and all, and at first try audio came back fine. But when I turned on the tv the next day no audio again. reset nor system reset did not do the trick... been resetting for days... =(
Called Sharpusa for some troubleshooting tips... Rep said it might be your RCA jack that went bad... then I tested my RCA jack by hooking it up to my radio's video/aux jack... well look at here audio works like a charm from my cable audio to my video/aux jack..
SHARP should do a recall on all their non playing audio tv's. this is not right... Any other ideas??
I have a sharp aquos lcd that is two and a half yrs. old sound went out repair will cost around threefifty this doesn,t set well with me sharp should have to adress the sound problems and offer to refund cost to repair problem. this would go a long way in sharps image
We just bot Sharp 46" and can only get mono sound and the display says analog even though we are receiving our signal through a cable digital box.
Did the same thing that nitram752003 did. I connected a pair of PC speakers to a 1/8" stereo female - 1/8" stereo female adpater on one side of the adapter and standard RCA jacks (1/8" stereo male to Dual RCA Male) on the other and plugged then into the Monitor Output. Change the Monitor Output setting to "Variable" from "Fixed" so that the remote works. Works fine. A good temporary fix - I'll buy a better pair of speakers when I have time. Don't waste your money getting the audio fixed by Sharp. The internal speakers are nothing special.
I had a great picture but sound that faded in and out. I changed the HDMI cable and it went away! Hope this helps!

I called Cox Communications and the technician told me to disconnect every cable or connection and turn the DVR and T.V. off. Cox ran a diagnostic check to make sure my DVR was reading proper info from their center. It was, and then I reconnected everyhing, cables, HDMI plugs, and finally turned the DVR on. It read Boot, and then, I waited for the time to show. When it did, I turn the T.V. on. It has worked great since then. No problems with sound or picture. Hope this helps someone.
Use HDMI connection for best quality.
I refer to the purchase of a TV Sharp 888991 LCD52D64, sound is good, but I have problems with two-channel sound, I thought that it would be problem's cable, so I proceeded to call them, but they performed inspection and review came to the conclusion that this will be a problem of the team, which was not well. I consulted several opinions and we have determined that the problem is on your computer, reason for the I claim upon you. This is a problem generalized with audio in TV, hi-tech.
On all modern tvs they have soft ware that runs the unit. this can get a problem with it.You need to talk to a service center about firm ware up grades . Or use the model number on the net for upgrades.
Hmmm.. So it looks like I'm not the only one having a problem with a 2+ year old SHARP LCD. I've done all the things that are mentioned in this blog with typical results (audio going on and off at will). One thing to note though, my wife got so pissed off the other night she turned the TV on and off for about 10 min. The sound finally came on. She also smelled a burning order. If the sets catch on fire Sharp will have some serious lawsuits.
I bought a Sharp Aquos 14 months ago. I worked great up to about a month ago when the sound of two chanels will cycle on and off with about 5 seconds on and 10 seconds off or so. I have rabbit ears, the stations with the problem are analog. The interesting part is that one of the two channels having the problem comes in at another frequency which has no problems.
I have a fairly new sharp aquos 52 in lcd tv connected to a directv HD receiver. After about a week the sound would get real choppy for 10 - 20 seconds then come back on. I unplugged the HD receiver and took the card out then re-booted it and so far have not had any problems. I'm hoping the issue is with the receiver & not the tv.

when i yurn on my tv theirs power but has no audio
I purchased an Sharp LC-52D64U about 2 weeks ago. I get a constant intermittent/pulsating audio signal on 2 over-the-air high def channels (2.1 & 5.1) even though the signal is strong. Sharp customer service had me install Firmware Upgrade U0709111 which did not help. Sharp arranged for an authorized service tech to look at it. The service tech was told by Sharp to download another upgrade which common folk are not authorized to do. Service tech seems pretty lame because they won't download it from the internet, they will only order it preloaded on a card from their Sharp representitive. I'm going to give them a few more days and then call Sharp and ask for some competent service. Has anyone else had this problem and gotten it fixed? If so, how? Thanks, Ron

I have the same problem with my lcd5264u. The sound cuts in and out sometime when I am changing channels.
What did you do?
I am the GUEST who on Jan 30 posted the complaint about the intermittent audio problem on 2 over-the-air high def channels:
After numerous phone calls to Sharp customer service and 3 waste of time home service calls by an authorized Sharp service technician, Sharp has replaced my TV. Audio problem solved! Unfortunately, my replacement likes to shut itself off 2 or 3 times a week for about 7 or 8 seconds and then turn itself back on. I'm back on the phone with Sharp customer service. So far, no solutions. Surprise, surprise! I sure wish I would have purchased a Sony.
I am having the same issue. I bought a Sharp Aquos 42" LCD television in November and just recently I began experiencing gaps in audio lasting 1-30 seconds or more. It occurs on all channels and also on recorded programs. I called Sharp and they had me reset the factory defaults and that did not resolve the issue. They told me that it is almost certainly the HD cable box or HDMI cable. I checked those connections and I am still having this issue.
I have a similar sound problem with my new 42" Aquos LC-42D62U.
The audio issue is also intermittant, but it involves the volume fluctuating.
Most of the time it's okay, but occasionally I have to jack the volume way up to Max (60) and even then I can barely hear the program.
It also occurs when I play a dvd...volume sucks, even pushed to Max.
Plus, twice over the past week it turns itself on & off for several seconds.
It's a great TV, but I paid alot for it, and I've only owned it for a month, so I'm concerned about these issues occurring so soon.
I have a Sharp LC-32D6U Aquous unit that has been functioning great for the past 22 months. And just yesterday night the sound completely died right in the middle of a broadcast just as everyone else has described. Yep, tried the whole re-boot issue, checked audio source, the whole bit and nothing. Turned the unit off for an hour and the sound returned but after reading the other posts I know the problem will return as well.
So, I called Sharp this morning and guess what I was told? THERE IS NO PROBLEM!! According to the Sharp customer rep, I'm the first person who ever called in asking about this issue. When I told them there are posts all over the net describing this very problem and that Sharp knows about it as service advice has been given out the Sharp rep denied any of it. Told me I should re-boot the unit and when I told her that I had done it but didn't work all she could say was "hey, it's workig now so you have no problem". Just told me the Aquos units work great and it is after all electronic so why don't I just go to a repair service center.
So here is my solution - NEVER BUY A SHARP AGAIN!!
Yes, we did have the same audio problem before the 2 years of the TV. Turned off for an hour after reseting. And it is working at this time for the 4th of July
. Thanks for the tip.
I can't believe it... I have the same problem. Own the TV for 2 years... and all of a sudden no sound. Glad my daughter said to try online for help. I will contact SHARP and register my complaint. Yes, I did reboot and had sound for a time but now nothing.
I have the same audio problem. After 2 1/2 years the sound went out. Rebooted the tv and the sound came back. Next time the tv was turned on, no sound! It hasn't worked since. I was told the same thing from Sharp as everyone else, "this is not a common problem, not many complaints, call your tv repairman." I have a manufacturing company and make an electronic product containing several pc bords. If this were my product, I would be replacing all components defective on all my customers units. This is definately a defective product and all units eventually will go bad. It could be just a small resistor, the heat sink is probably not adequate to disspate the heat from the pc board, which in turn burns up one of the components (a resistor, a driver, a diode, etc.). It probably is a item that cost pennies and could be repaired, but the heat sink problem would remain, which means in 2 years or so, you could be replacing it again. The real question is will Sharp put in the same board or have they changed the heat sink to eliminate future problems. I for one will have the tv repaired and want to see the old board and new boad side by side for comparison, this will tell us they knew about the problem if the board is different. I will post again once I see the replacement. I would bet Sharp is definately aware of the problem and knows the cause, they are just dodging a recall. They probably have the problem on many of their products and models, a costly proposition for admitting there is an inherant flaw.
We have had the same problem with our Sharp 37 inch LCD flat screen TV, after only 2 1/2 years the sound is gone. What a costly rip off. I will contact Sharp and enrourage everyone to do the same. Is there a recall or class action lawsuit yet? I will call and email and search the internet without ceasing until I get a replacement. I encourage everyone to do the same.
It seem my 42" Sharp 64U is exhibiting the same problem after only 6 months of use. There is distortion in the audio when listening in stereo. If you switch it to mono the static seems to go away. I expect it will be only a matter of time before I lose the audio completely. I have a friend with the exact same problem on his 52" Sharp 84U
Why doesn't Sharp stand behind their products?
Exact same problem here too. After 2 1/2 years the sound when off... I rebotted my T.V. once however the sound was gone. Then, I tried rebotting it again and the sound came back. The next time I turned the T.V. off and back on again, the sound was gone. I have a Sharp Aquos 37inch LCD - definitely never buying another sharp product again. Samsung or Sony only. My parents just bought one of the new Sharp Aquos 42 last year and after one year they have large black lines running down the middle and sides of the screen. Sharp does not make good guality LCD T.V.'s.
Sound skips out on 42" LCD Aquos bought in December 2007. Have separate headset attached to cable box, and that works fine (no sound skipping), so it is the TV. Every 10-15 seconds, the sound goes silent for half a second or a second. Any solutions?
Same problem and more. My 37" loses power intermittently, and then restarts...very unnerving.
Sharp Sucks. My Sharp Aqous Flatscreen is less than 3 years old and the sound went out. Don't buy any Sharp products as they don't back their products. This was very very expensive and should work for more than 3 years.
I have the same problem intermittent sound on 46" Sharp Aquos
Same problem, sound skips out for a sec intermittantly.
Sharp SERVICE SUCKS!!!Right out of the box NO audio! I had service technician check it out Dec 6,2008 new board needed. Been on the phone every week since.Getting the run around , Board ordered ,on it way ,order .......cancelled order.... on back order. How can they get away with this
I have a 32 inch bought in 2005. I use an expensive theater system and that works great not needing the audio on the Sharp. However, I moved and need to set it up without the sound system for a month or so. NO SOUND/Audio from the "TV." I am so mad I paid a bundle for this. My friend bought a SONY LCD I told her good idea. This is my last Sharp product!!!!Â
I have the same problem. It just started happening since we mounted our Sharp Aquos 45" TV on the wall. The TV input is fine, but there is a frequent 1 -2 second skip on the audio, but not on the video. I tried different HDMI cables and the same result. It must be the tv.
every 1-2 seconds the sound skips, only on 1 station, technician said it is the local televison program and Local television program says it's the TV, guess who is stuck in the middle?? Anyone else have the same issue/
I'm getting choppy (quick dropouts like a CD skipping, but not as regular) audio on two of the digital channels on my cable system, tuned in via the QAM tuner in the TV. After talking to Sharp, a TV repair shop, and Comcast, this appears to be a limitation of the TV. There are simply certain surround audio formats that the TV (mine's a LC-37D62U) cannot decode properly.
Everyone seems to agree that the cheapest solution is to rent a digital cable box.
This is so unbelievably lame, I'm not likely to ever buy a Sharp TV again.
It does look awful nice with HDMI input from my HD-DVD player. Sigh.
I have the same problem with my Sharp Aquos LC-32D6U. Was fine for a couple of years, but then some intermitant skips in the audio...and now no audio at all. I have reset the TV and turned it off for an hour and unplugged all the plugs and cables, but still no sound. I totally agree with other posts that YOU SHOULD NOT BUY A SHARP TV!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND IF A CLASS ACTION SUIT PRESENTS ITSELF IN THE FUTURE - I AM IN!
