Most laptops have a button for turning on and off mouse touch pad on panel where you have your volume controls. Check all switches since many are variable locations, but sounds like a simple on off switch issue. Good luck, FREE-VSTREAMTV.com

Controller is confused
A power surge or random non-reproducible action of the universe may have resulted in the controller's program ending up in an infinite loop. Pull the plug for a minute or two to reset it.
Defective Interlock switches
This can result in the controller thinking the door is open and ignoring you.
Cleaning
Cleaning solutions (spray cleaner) may have gotten inside and shorted out the touchpad or controller. If this happens remove the touchpad, let it air dry for a few days, and then attach it back on the microwave.
This has happened to me and it took me hours to figure it out. I hope yours is the same problem... Make sure you dont have your touch pad set to off. On my ASUS It is F9 on my keyboard. the key shows an icon of the touch pad with a slash (/) through it. If you do not see this on your keyboard try looking in control panel and see if there is a setting in there. Good Luck. Please let me know if this worked. Geraldine
More than likely the Start button is faulty. Push it harder to see if this works, if so then the start button needs to be replaced. This is actually a common break down simply because that button is the most popular button on the control panel and it is the first to pack it in.
go to the control panel, open the sound and audio.
check the box in front of "place volume icon in the taskbar", under the device volume, in the volume tab page.
Different parts of the screen do different things depending on the mode you're in. When you touch "speed" the trip screen appears as you've already noted. The 'Driving" icon does nothing until you've asked the GPS to take you someplace.
After you enter a route the "speed" icon changes to "arrival" (which will still bring up the trip screen) and the 'driving' icon will change to "Turn In." Touching "Turn In" will bring up a list of turns along with a small portion of the map (showing that particular turn) anytime you've entered a route.
Note you can also press the green banner on top of the map when you have a route set. You'll see a list of just the turns and the distance to each. Touching each of those turn boxes will show you the split screen offered after you touched the "turn in" button.
