SOURCE: dsp display on the 5.1 Onkyo receiver

Do you want to turn off the whole display?

There is a 3-way Dimmer on the front panel and the remote controller. The manual doesn't say if it will turn completely OFF.

The HDMI is not outputting to my display. I have 3 inputs and none of them work. However they did work for about 2 weeks with no problem. I can take the input directly to the display and they work...

Measure all hdmi inputs and output HPD Voltage by a needle probe.
Steps:
(1)unplug the amp.
(2)open the cover.
(3)connect a blu ray player to hdmi input & a mon to output, otherwise no 5V.
(4)negative probe connected to the large heat sink with large power transistors mounted by a crocodile clip.
(5)postive probe to right hand side last pin called hot plug detect, HPD.
(6)If it has 5V, hdmi board is OK. Check HDMI cables(7)If no 5V, check power to this board. Go to you tube:How to fix an Onkyo receiver - TX-SR606 . All large capacitors next to SMPS IC are replaced.
(8) If not OK, replace Q 8595-Q8597.
(9)If not OK, replace Q8501,sil9135.(Onkyo won't help you to replace this HDMI decoding Chip. A HDMI board replacement instead, the company policy.)

Onkyo TX-SR604 provides audio thru receiver but no video on Bravia LCD when satellite receiver signal is sent thru any of the Onkyo HDMI connections to tv, however if I connect up my Samsung DVD recorder...

easiest fix is to take all hdmi straight to tv. then come out of tv with optical cable to your receiver. that way what ever your watching will automatically be sent to the receiver thru optical. you even will get dolby dig. also you can have audio from your tv when you dont want to use your surround. keeps receiver on one input also.

Onkyo TX-SR705 Muting Problem

if what Dark_Orbit said does not work try doing a master reset by ressing and holding the dvr/vcr button and stand by button simultaneously. This would erase all your assignments so you would need to reassign all your sources hooked up to your onkyo.

TX SR705 Receiver not respomding to Remote

for your mute button:

check your setup:
*press setup
*go to Miscellaneous
*go to volume setup
*go to muting level
*make sure that the muting level is on minimum (press the left arrow or the left preset button)
*if it shows a negative infinite sign (its measured in decibels) its ok.
you can now mute it without the loud noise.

Abaout Remote:

Please make sure that the remote ID is set to 1. this would be on the setup menu of the receiver. The remote ID on the receiver should be the same as your remote. Please refer to page 94 and 98 of your owners manual. it would give you the exact procedure in how to set it.

Default volume too high

You can download the manual from the link below: http://www.intl.onkyo.com/downloads/manuals/pdf/tx-ds787_manual_e.pdf c. Power On Volume This sets a designated volume setting for the TX-DS787 to be set every time that the power is turned on. This prevents the TXDS787 from being turned on while it is set to an extremely high volume and suddenly output very loud sounds. For the absolute volume display method, this can be set between min and max. For the relative volume display method, this can be set between ?? and 18 decibels. If you do not mind having the TX-DS787 turned on with its current volume setting, set this to "Last." Please update the question & let us know if the information given was useful to you - Good Luck!
